What do people think of Nina?
What kind of person does it make you think of?

RubyShivers Sun 26-Oct-08 19:24:26

doesn't make me think of anyone in particular

giddykipper Sun 26-Oct-08 19:24:42

Absolutely love it, DS would have been Nina.

scarymcclary Sun 26-Oct-08 19:25:30

nina simone. I like it tho! Prob wouldnt use it myself, nit that keen.
I think names are very dependant on the surname and does it flow together. Also siblings names affect my choice a tad.

NotBigNotClever Sun 26-Oct-08 19:26:30

and the Neurons

LynetteScavo Sun 26-Oct-08 19:28:28

I've only known one Nina, and she was the most wonderful, intelligent, kind, patient person. smile

like it

Lovely name. She'll probably get teased about police siren noises NEENAH NEENAH but who cares. grin

EachPeachPearMum Sun 26-Oct-08 19:41:00

It's lovely, and quite uncommon these days.
We know a Nina who is just coming up to 3, and it suits her down to the ground.

Works in most languages, most people can spell it too!

Very cute

Liffey Sun 26-Oct-08 19:59:47

I love it. It's beautiful in a modest way. Quirkier than Anna, but its prettiness is enhanced by its simplicity.

MrsMattie Sun 26-Oct-08 20:01:03

Gorgeous. Nina Simone connotations, but that's a good thing smile

Miyazaki Sun 26-Oct-08 20:03:29

Love it. is v close to my heart.

Ellbell Sun 26-Oct-08 20:05:37

Pretty ballerina smile!

But I do really like it. Had one in my class at secondary school (1978 onwards!) but don't know any nowadays.

In Italian it'd be a diminutive for Giovanna (> Giovannina > Nina).

Plonker Sun 26-Oct-08 20:08:41

Nina Simone smile

I love the name Nina, but dh wouldn't contemplate it hmm

Really lovely name!

Makes me think of someone sophisticated and clever

Scarletibis Sun 26-Oct-08 20:29:51

I always used to think it sounded exotic and sophisticated and had it on my fave girls' names list.

Then met a couple of Nina's who were anything but which kind of put me off.

Nancy66 Sun 26-Oct-08 20:46:50

I like it but don't love it - it's just one of those names that's impossible to be offended by - like James - but is just a bit bland

Nyx Sun 26-Oct-08 22:27:41

I don't think it's bland; I think it's elegant. I really like it. One of my friends at school was a Nina and she got teased with the siren thing, "nee-naw nee-naw" but it didn't bother her and soon stopped.

bonnyb1 Sun 26-Oct-08 22:43:31

like it, it makes me think of someone quirky and pretty, and maybe german (perhaps I am remembering the song '99 red balloons')smile

berolina Sun 26-Oct-08 22:50:18

love it. Very cool name.

SunshineSmith Sun 26-Oct-08 22:54:35

Well, there is a well know news reporter called Nina Nanah.... it makes chuckle every time I hear her reports.. along with Julia Cesar, another reporter!!

TwoFoggy Mon 27-Oct-08 08:50:24

The ships were the Nina, Pinta and Santa Maria, but not many people remember that (too many pub quizzes).

There is Nina and the Neurons but I dont think thats too bad, wouldnt put me off.

Also, Nina weenea is an American playground adaptation, excuse my spelling of weener.
