Am asking for someone else, so be brutal, I'll summarise!

Hah, just last week, I read a health article in the papers and the person conducting the research was a Dr Saskia-something, and ... unconsiously and unintentionally ... I 'discounted' the credibility. Something about the name that screams 'don't take me seriously'. Maybe something to do with that awful character from Big Brother too.

Vanessa Feltz has a dd called Saskia as does a friend of miNe. I wouldn't think it hinders credibility - is a nice name. I remember that Saskia in BB and that loathesome Maxwell she hooked up with

I like it but DH vetoed it on the grounds its very posh and sloaney.

I love it! But I am Dutch and grew up with quite a few Saskias!!

Lovely name, wish I had used it for dd.

MAS, are you stalking me??

I am procrastinating - should go and sort out the swimming stuff (still wet and in the bag) and then prepare lunch...

I love it. I want it if I have a dd but it does not at all go with my surname as I have double ss in my surname.

Lovely name! If I had had a girl I'd have called her Saskia

It's on my list. I grew up in Holland (but am not Dutch) so it's not that unusual to me. It's pretty and there won't be 10 of them in the nursery class, which is why I like it.

Your friend's daughter will clearly end up in my daughter's class now, obviously.

Was there a mad woman in Eastenders who killed someone by bashing them over the head with an ashtray? Or was she bashed??

anyway, it's a nice name

Report
Twinkie1 · 31/07/2008 12:28

Love it but it does remind me of the big breasted harlot from BB!

Report
Lizzylou · 31/07/2008 12:31

Love it, one of DH's relatives has a daughter called Saskia, MIL has terrible trouble pronouncing it though (wtf?), calls her "Sarkia"

Report
Boobz · 31/07/2008 12:46

I wouldn't worry about the BB connection - who can remember the names of any of them past the last couple of years anyway? Will be forgotten by the time child is in school.

I like it. However, for me, it does have an upper class, sloaney ring to it.
