A Greek Mythology crazed pal of mine is stuck between the two. I'd love to see which one you prefer, because I adore both.

Ariadne makes me think of a children's character, although I can't think what program.

I love Ariadne, it was in my top 3 when I had my daughter.

@RyanReynoldsArmpit hmm, haven't heard of that. Was only speaking of the greek mythology person. I'll rack my brain for the name though Grin

Both are good. I prefer Ariadne.

Has she got a third choice?

I know a little Ariadne, she goes by Aria. Out of the two, that's my preference but Ariadne makes me think of spiders for some reason.

She DOES have a third and forth option, though not as popular with her or her DP. It's Josephine or Calypso. The chosen middle name is Elisabeth after her late mother.

@Alarae that may be because Ariadne was the girl who was transformed into a spider after winning a competition against Athena 😅

Hestia. Goddess of the hearth and home. Also Hester is one of my favourite names.

Ariadne just reminds me of Arachne and although I know it’s NOT correct then I’m thinking of spiders.

Love Josephine too, although I’m not usually a fan of female diminutive names.

Ariadne was a goddess who assisted Theseus in the labyrinth. Arachne was the girl turned into a spider...

Sorry I totally had a brain fart and forgot to add to my original comment, that I like Ariadne and as a fan of shortening names I like Ari as well. You may be mistaken for naming her after Ariana Grande however if you chose that route.

I don't like either sorry!

Ohyesiam · 15/10/2019 21:01

For some reason Hestia sounds like the name of an owl to me. No idea why.

CravingCheese · 15/10/2019 21:03

Hestia is lovely.
Ariadne is nice. I prefer Ariana but it's till nice.

Calypso is a bit more of a character name. And sounds somehow sinister for some reason. (is there an infamous - whether fictional or real - Calypso?)

She might also like Clio or Juno (which is admittedly Roman...).

Hestia is a London housing association. Dont do that!

Josephine Elizabeth would be classic and pretty. But a bit boring and... Idk, soft?

Hestia because goddess of home and hearth is better than a spider connection.
