DD2 due in a couple of months. Which of these 2 do you prefer? These are the current final two but are subject to change Grin

Other names that I like but cannot use are Romilly, Merryn, Marnie, Cassia.

I absolutely love them both, which is no help, but does mean either is a great choice. I really love Marnie too.

Sylvie. I think it's beautiful!

Sylvie is my favourite but they are both lovely names.

I prefer Juliet.

Juliet is by far the nicest.

Juliet.

Sylvie! Juliet might end up being shortened to Julie which I really don't like. Sylvie is beautiful.

Maireadd - I really love it too! The reason I can’t use it is because it’s DD1s name Grin

Jules is more likely as a shortening, I would think.

Waffle - agree, I really don’t like Julie or Jules. Etta, Jet or Ette are nice nn potentials but I don’t really use nn’s so she would probably just get Juliet at home but I obviously can’t control any nn’s given at school etc

Sylvie

Juliet.

I prefer Sylvia to Sylvie. Sylvie sounds a bit pretentious to me.

NoGoodDeed · 19/08/2018 08:26

Juliet. Sylvie sounds like a nickname for Sylvia

motortroll · 19/08/2018 08:28

Juliet top of my current imaginary baby list!

Whilst I like Slyvie I really don’t like Slyvia although I know there is no logic to that Grin

How about both? Sylvie Juliet sounds lovely

I have a Juliette. She gets called Juju at school Hmm. We don't usually shorten but it's Jules when we do.

Juliet, lovely name, wish I had considered it actually. Sylvie, not keen as I really dislike Sylvia and it just sounds like a shorten version.

Dc2 would have been Juliette if he were a girl. I love it!

I always have to think about which way the y and the l go round in Sylvie. Not keen as I don't like Sylvia at all.

DH’s only concern about Sylvie is that on
first introductions we’ll be spending a lifetime correcting people that it’s Sylvie not Sylvia. Though I think Sylvie is much more commonly known as a name in its own right nowadays? Some people struggle to get their heads round DD1’s first name -
Don’t want to have to go through it again with DD2!

Sylvia is pretty and much more current than Sylvia so I don't think many will call her the longer form. Even if they do occasionally is it a problem?
