I know a 1 year old Dorothy nn Dottie. At first I wasn’t sure but actually it really suits her.

I absolutely love the little name Dottie 🙊😁

Noooo. It’s awful. You might as well call her Gladys or Barbara.

Elocutioner · 09/02/2018 13:59

I like it, although I prefer Dorothea

Lovely.

Also like Valerie, both timeless names.

Report
SheelaNaGiggle · 09/02/2018 16:29

Is Valerie timeless? It shouts 1950s to me.

Report
Laqueue · 09/02/2018 16:33

I prefer Dorothea, plus it gives you Thea as an extra possible "short"

I think the Romans would argue with that one Sheela !!!

I'm not saying it's not an old name but to me 'timeless' is a name that never dates. Catherine for example. Not Valerie.

Dorothy is a lovely name. Lots of nice nicknames. It’s not that common for new babies but is still a nice ordinary name that everyone knows how to spell.

Not keen, I only know one Dorothy(not a child) and she uses her middle name as she doesn’t like it. I can’t see it becoming popular so that could be a possible advantage. Your choice, whatever name you choose wouldn’t be liked by everyone.
