Baby names

Avery????

I'm only 16 weeks pregnant so could well change my mind but me and dp do not agree on names at all and we had a hell of a time naming ds1. Amazingly we both agree that we love the name Avery and would use it regardless of babies sex. Is this a silly idea? It's not a name I think I've ever heard anyone name their child and I'm worried about bullying.
Also recommendations of similar names would be most welcome!

It's quite popular in America I believe.

Wouldn't be to my taste but it's okay although it does remind me of an aviary. Not a name I'd give to a boy though.

One of the 'Real Housewives of New York' has an adult daughter named Avery. Only place I've ever heard it. I think it's a lovely name.

I like it. Reminds me of the actor Avery Brooks who was the captain in Star Trek
DS9. He's cool.

The children's book Charlotte's Web has an Avery - brother to the main (human) character, so I see it as a boy's name.

It makes me think of bird cages and bird poop.

Different spelling I realise.

I love it for a girl. Not sure I'd use it for a boy but there's no reason why not.

It's been top 10 in the US for quite a long time but I've never met one in the UK.

It's the brand name of letter-weighing scales.
Why not go the whole hog and spell it Ava-Ree.

'It's the brand name of letter-weighing scales.'

that's a pretty niche reference tbh.

Avery makes me think of Aviary

Report

Not really. Avery is the make. There are Avery labels too. Quite common in office or postroom environments.
