Looking for a modern twist on the boys name Gilbert!

What do you think of the name Gilby/Gilbie?

Not keen on it but if you really want to use it I'd put the full version on the birth certificate so he has the option of using it or maybe Bert/Bertie as a nn when he gets older, Gilby sounds quite babyish to me.

Gilbert lends its way to many a Nn most will come to naturally when you see him but you can use Bert/Bertie, Gill, Gilby, Giles

Nicknames evolve naturally. I'd call your ds Gilbert and not worry about nicknames.

Names don't need a nickname btw. DD's names is 3 syllables and rarely if ever gets shortened.

Personally I feel Gilby/Gilbie are just not right for DS. But Gilbert alone sound fine. I think a nickname would come eventually and should not be worried about it too much at the moment.

Gilbert is reasonably common where I'm from - often shortened to Gibby. I think Gilby is okay.

I suppose there's the surname Gilbey, if you like surnames as forenames.

The two most famous Gilbeys are the actor and the (gin heir?) chap who had phone sex with Diana. I don't know where that leaves you.
