Because it's awful.
Why can't kids just have normal names anymore? It's like a wacky name contest
And people won't know how to spell or pronounce it

VivienneWestwoodsKnickers · 07/07/2017 23:53

Goady.

I suppose 'normal' names are subjective Hmm by normal names do you mean popular, well used names? Because Bricius is a name. So I assume you mean names that are used frequently.

His namesake priest is nothing to be proud of - what appeals to you about it?

How is it pronounced?

I went to school with a Brice, he was African. Is it an African name? I've never come across it since. It's not to my taste but it might be from the OP's culture /background.
OP - it's not a common name in the U.K so you might get some funny responses.

Bricius almost like britches?

Report
SuperBeagle · 07/07/2017 23:59

I know people named Bryce.

Bricius is awful though. I would pronounce it "Brishus". Horrid.

Given that link appears to offer 3 different ways to pronounce it, I'm not sure it helps!

Why not just go with Brice and save the poor kid the pain?

Don't like the sound of it myself - too harsh on the ear. And too be honest it does come across as a tad pretentious.
you could find the nickname from school onwards is Bri and I have always hated the name Brian because of that nickname.

I also have a sense of deja vu about this.............

That link isn't working for me.

So... is it pronounced like Brick-ee-us or like Br-eye-see-us?

Is it Roman?

Sorry, I don't love it. I know a Brice, which is common in the US, but I don't like that either!

Genuinely not trying to be goady 😩😕 I just like the name.

I pronounce it Br - eye - see - us! It's an old name yes.

I'm sorry but it really is truly awful.

Sorry, but it is awful. Poor child will have a lifetime of having to explain it.

I just wouldn't. I would cringe upon hearing it.

Bryce is okay.
Bricius is awful, sorry, other kids will say, Bricius is bricking it.
