Baby names

Moses or Solomon

Hi

Unfortunately my husband and I just don't like any boys' names! We're so fussy (too posh, too unusual, too common) but need one any day now

We both quite like Moses and Solomon, despite being put off by how obviously biblical they are!

Which would you choose? Or do you have any other good suggestions?

Probable middle name of Daniel (after a particular Daniel we've known)

Thanks!

Too biblical especially with another biblical middle name. there are lots if names in the Bible that don't automatically scream 'bible ', luke, Matthew etc or gave Daniel as a first name and move Solomon or Moses to middle name?

I don't like either, to be honest, but I'd go with Solomon because I do like Sol as a nickname.

I really like Daniel though.

Of the two, Solomon. I like both but they are very Old Testament. Nn Sol or Mo/Moss? All ok imo.

Solomon/ Sol is lovely, I wanted to use is for ds3 but wasn't allowed

I find Luke, Matthew etc too boring...

Unfortunately don't like Daniel enough to be the first name! I feel like it's more a name for our generation than this next one??

I'm swayed because I love the nn Mo but Sol is nice for when they're older ...

What about in Hebrew? Moshe/Shlomo

If you like Old Testament names, what about Reuben, Noah, Elijah, Isaac?

I really like both of them! Solomon was on my list too but rejected by DH (he also thought it was too biblical). But then names like Noah, Elijah and Jonah are surely just as much so and they're really popular at the moment! I think they're lovely names.

I was thinking Moshe and Shlomo too or Musa/Sulamein. All lovely.
Isaac, Elijah, Noah, Reuben, Jonah etc might be a bit too popular IMO. The first one you hear of you think Ooh Noah, that's a bit unusual then you think ah Josh hmm 20 yr old probably.

Cool choices!

I like Moses best in full but I love the nn Sol! Though actually Moss is great too...

Moses and Solomon are names that are thousands of years old, they atre in no way 'next generation ' 😂😂

If it's Solomon I really hope he's born on a Monday! 😉

Solomon. Wanted it for DS2 (with Solly as nn) but was swayed by MIL saying it was a very big name to live up to. Now I think DS2 could have handled it Grin

I love biblical names!

I really like both .

I like Solomon. Whilst both are obviously old testament names I think moses is a bigger character in the Bible.

A child called Moses I would instantly think his parents were uber religious whereas I wouldn't necessarily think that with a Solomon.

Pp suggestion of Abraham is one of my absolute favourite boy names though, so if there's even a small chance you'd choose that, I'd vote for it.

I like Solomon.

Moses feels a little 'Duggar family' for me, like one of their girls calling their baby Israel and the other Spurgeon. Sort of overtly religious (rather than a name of biblical heritage)

My friend called her ds Moses. Before he was a year old she was using his mn permanently. .
