Second boy (was sure he was a she before scan so girl's name all chosen Blush) first born has a good solid name - Samuel James (Sam except when he's naughty!)
I've found it a bit tricky to bond with this baby and a name would help. We think we've settled on Flynn Fitzgerald (husband has very red hair and is half Irish and the name means 'son of a red haired man') what do people think? Just scared after giving first son such a 'solid' name to go a bit rogue!

Doesn't Fitzgerald mean son of Gerald?
Flynn is a good name. Nothing wrong with solid!

Flynn is pretty solid, and I love Fitzgerald.

From an outside POV they're of equal weight.

Fitzgerald is an homage to my favourite author - wouldn't have had the balls to do it first baby!!! I think it balances the short Flynn too. It was going to be Flynn Thomas but it didn't scan so well when said - I may be wrong!

It isn't rogue at all, don't worry. They're both normal, good names.

It's the Funn bit that means son of a red haired man.

It's fine but depends on your surname.

As long as your surname doesn't begin with S

Thankyou all - you're really giving me confidence in my choice. Husband already referring to bump as Flynn. I think I needed a little more encouragement!

I like Fitzgerald a lot, but not keen on Flynn.
What about
Rory or Rufus instead?

Top name :)

I was going to call first baby Rufus and it was mercilessly shot down at my work and became a joke Sad and I am close to a lady with her own Rory but I do like it still. The red haired bit won my husband over - it's his defining feature!

When I posted, I'd not seen your post about DH already calling bump Flynn....
It's always good to have both parents enthusiastic about a name, so it's sure to be a grand name for your baby boy!
Hope all goes well for you Jelly. Thanks Bear

Apparently it's a dogs name - lots of woof woofing soured it for me Sad

Love Flynn! Fitzgerald is interesting and a nice tribute to your favourite writer, but I think I prefer Flynn Thomas. I think it's lovely and solid and "goes" better with Samuel James if you mind about that sort of thing. I think Flynn Fitzgerald as a combo is much more "out there", highlighted by the alliteration too. But there's no law that says sibling names have to "go", and they'd be Sam and Flynn 99% of the time which is a great pair!
