I have a fairly common name and it's always been nice not having to spell it for anyone/have it misspelled.

Plus, as a kid (admittedly pre-internet!) I could always easily find my name on personalised stuff - my cousin with a more unusual name never could!

I too think it is a lovely 'proper' name.
Easy to spell. Easy to pronounce.
Not particularly 'fashionable' in terms of it being identifiable to a particular 3 or 4 years.
Common enough you can find it on 'personalised' mugs / hats / keyrings / toys / etc.

I'm biased because I have a Josh (Joshua on BC) but I don't think it's boring at all.like others have said in my opinion it's a lovely, solid name. All 3 of my s have v traditional names though.

It's not boring but DS will bring home drawings etc labelled Joshua S. Our's is only 4 and is already Joshua C. Mine was a very popular name when I grew up & I'd hoped to save our children from being one of many but it fits him perfectly and you can find toys with his name on.

I don't know any little Joshuas. I know of one who is 10 belonging to a colleague. Think it peaked about 15 years ago! I know more small Jonahs to be honest! I quite like it, prefer the full name to josh.

It's a nice solid name but there are an awful lot around although as a pp said, it probably peaked about 15 years ago, or maybe a bit less.

My Josh/Joshua is at secondary now and is the only one out of his 120 year group so it's not too common. Personally I would rather have a strong solid classic traditional unpretentious name like this than some of the more pretentious slightly effeminate or ridiculous sounding names I see sometimes bandied about on here at times.

No it's not I have a Joshua and I find it rude when people say it's boring it's a timeless classical name. I rather give my child a decent name not something ridiculous that will raise eyebrows I 100% agree with bright eyes

All the Joshuas I know are now in their early 20s. For me, it's a boys' name of the 1990s. I wouldn't call it classic and timeless.
