Levison/Leveson

Dh loves Levison/Leveson, mainly because he loves Lev as a shortening. But I'm not sure it goes with our other children's names of Alexander (Alex), Gabriel (Gabe) and Isabella (Bella)?

Interested in opinions!

Makes me think of the Leveson inquiry.

That's another drawback Hmm

Plus my old school had a building called Leveson... I'm doing my best not to dismiss the name completely as it is the only name that dh likes. But struggling.

Oh, I thought of the inquiry too.

I think of Levi as a name in itself. I hadn't heard Levison used. I think a more traditional version like Levi would sit better with the other names.

God no. Find another name which can be shortened to Lev. Levi? Leviticus?

Yep - the Leveson enquiry came straight to mind here too.

Straight to the inquiry too, sorry. Sad

god it's AWFUL and doesn't go with your other names at all-which are all LOVELY by the way.

you need something quite traditional surely?

My first thought was of Levison Wood rather than the Leveson Inquiry.

I like it so I'd say go for it. :)

I'd say Levi too, or Levin maybe, although I think that that's more of a surname

Mmmmm, I thought of Levison Wood too. Wink

Love Lev as a shortened name too.

Thinking of Levison Wood is much more pleasant that the enquiry Grin

Thanks all, I don't like Levi or Leviticus... and I agree that we need something more traditional.

Lev is great, but I don't like Levison/Leveson. Levi would go quite nicely with your other names though.

Love Levison with Lev or Levi as nn. Definitely think of Levison Wood.

Lev is the Russian for Leo (like Lev Tolstoy though we call him Leo in English) so you could just call him that. I do thin Levison/Leveson just isn't very nice - spelling will be difficult and people will say Leave-eye-sun or Leave-son too.

I thought of the inquiry too. I really don't like it as a name.

I do like Levi (although I see you don't :)) but I think the nickname "Lev" is dreadful anyway, no matter what it is short for.

'It's a boy, Mr and Mrs Inquiry.'

'I think we'll call him Leveson.'

No.

Levi?

I'm doing my best not to dismiss the name completely as it is the only name that dh likes.

Your DH needs to put more effort into coming up with other names then! I always think that "it's the only name I like" sounds like an attempt to get what a person wants.

Lev is a name on its own.

en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Lev_(given_name)

Doesn't really go with your other children's names, but it doesn't jar terribly either, so I don't see a huge issue.

NOT Leveson though, please! It's not a name, and it makes me think of the Leveson inquiry and Leveson-Gower family. Sounds a bit tryhard.

Not Levi.

Lorenzo? Lucian, Lucius, Laurence, Vernon, Greyson?

Report
NotYoda · 26/03/2017 16:39

Levi is great

Leviticus as the full name? Gotta love the third book of the Bible

Levison is a surname

Other suggestions:

Patrick
Matthew
Asa
Issac

Definitely Leviticus , but he'll be a stickler for rules.

I love it.

But then I love Levison Wood... Mmmmmm

Well I'm a journalist, so....

No. I wouldn't call my child Leveson.

I immediately thought of the inquiry too.

Maybe Leonard with Len as a shortening? Or Oliver with Liv?
