Hi, looking for thoughts on Kaylee? I prefer Kayleigh - what even is the original???

LadyAntonella Thu 09-Jun-16 19:21:16

Good question! Have no idea what the original is, but would guess Kayleigh. I like it! It has quite a sweet sound and I like that it sounds the same as Ceilidh (sp?) which is a party / dance in Scotland.

Is it too late to say I'm sorry?

PrizePork Thu 09-Jun-16 19:23:23

my name is kaylee lol

BendydickCuminsnatch Thu 09-Jun-16 19:37:43

I think Kaylee is a happy sounding name. I think maybe it's a bit 80s, I get the same vibe as Shannon and Lisa. I know a Kaley, for another spelling, but think I prefer the -Leigh spelling

pristinechristine Thu 09-Jun-16 19:38:47

It's lovelee

GerundTheBehemoth Thu 09-Jun-16 19:40:31

I think Kayleigh is probably the original spelling, but the (lovely) character by that name in 'Firefly' was a Kaylee. (I like it btw!)

LadyAntonella Thu 09-Jun-16 20:04:53

Oh yeah I forgot about that character in Firefly!

Kayleigh is nice, and is much more traditional. Kaylee makes me shudder, sorry.

eatmytoes888 Thu 09-Jun-16 20:22:19

Really dislike it, sorry. It sounds really dated and a bit Sharon/ Tracy -ish. (Sharon is actually one of my fave retro names but has a poor image.)

FellOutOfBed2wice Thu 09-Jun-16 20:23:59

Yvaine I came on to say I'm so sorry, I never meant to break your heart... But you broke mine grin

mrslol Thu 09-Jun-16 20:32:15

Would the original not be Ceilidh like ceilidh dancing?

LadyStarkOfWinterfell Thu 09-Jun-16 20:40:05

Double E at the end of names is naff

Notsure1234 Thu 09-Jun-16 21:42:19

I'm Kayleigh and every other one I've met has had the same spelling. People seem to just assume this is how it's spelt so it must be more usual and you may end up correcting a lot if you use an alternative spelling

PotteringAlong Thu 09-Jun-16 21:44:12

Neither is great.

BlueDove Thu 09-Jun-16 22:31:52

Kayleigh is the one I like... I have looked on name websites and they say that Kaylee is the original? confused

Sadik Thu 09-Jun-16 22:34:23

I'd say Kayleigh is more normal in the UK - if I saw a Kaylee, I'd assume she was named for the Firefly character. (Not that that would be a bad thing - she'd be a great character to be named for!)

slithytove Thu 09-Jun-16 22:36:18

Kayleigh is nicer way I think

seb1 Thu 09-Jun-16 22:36:48

Kayleigh as in the song

Pinkheart5915 Thu 09-Jun-16 22:41:32

I know a Kayleigh much better than Kaylee IMO

LaPharisienne Thu 09-Jun-16 22:43:14

Don't know why, but I really, really don't like either.

Notsure1234 Thu 09-Jun-16 23:18:48

I think Kaylee is the American version along with Kaley isn't it?

Notsure1234 Thu 09-Jun-16 23:19:15

I'm thinking of Kaley Cuoco from TBBT

UntilTheCowsComeHome Fri 10-Jun-16 00:16:17

I worked with a Kayleigh recently, I really struggled to say her name without it sounding like I was singing the song.

But then it is one of my favourite songs.

Sophronia Fri 10-Jun-16 00:50:07

I think Kayleigh is more usual in the UK and Kaylee in the US
