Hector

(but all names can be shortened, or lengthened and when at secondary age they may well be given a nickname by their friends that'll stick with them forever.......)

As LizzieMacQueen says, any name can be shortened and many nicknames don't originate from given names.

In Scotland I have met:

Callum shortened to Cal
Lachlan shortened to Lachie
Dougal shortened to Dougie
Duncan shortened to Dochie
Malcolm shortened to Malkie
Fergus shortened to Fergie
Angus and Magnus shortened to Gus
Ranald/Ronald shortened to Ran/Ron
Padraig/Patrick shortened to Pat/Paddy

All these shortenings are perfectly normal.

Sorry, but Aaron is Biblical, not Scottish. The Scottish island is Arran.
Some Scottish people would pronounce 'Struan' as one syllable: 'Stroon' or occasionally 'Strowwhnn'

Surely the name Gregor is going to be shortened to Greg, same with Fergus, that is likely to be no as Fergie.

Douglas
Callum
Andrew
Rory
Robert

All names can be shorted or lengthened, especially if they are two syllabled. Even is parents don't want a nickname, children often acquire them.
