I am totally stuck on names for my baby girl, due any day! I want a classic, elegant name that is not too, too popular or likely to scream 'born in 2015' in 20 years time SmilePlease tell me what you think of:

Eloise
Madeleine
Imogen

Thank you!

I'm not sure how Classic it is, but I'd choose Imogen from your list.

Thanks poppy. Imogen is Shakespearean, if that makes it 'classic'..?

Imogen is VERY popular.

I prefer Madeleine from your list.

Based on your criteria, I'd go for Madeleine.

I think Imogen is already having a popularity spike and might indicate 'born around 2015' in the future.

I don't like any of them, sorry. Classic elegant, not too popular or too 2015, I think of

Catherine
Alexandra
Victoria
Isabel / -la / Isadora
Fiona
Claudia, Beatrice,
Sophia...

All are lovely. I would just say that Madeleine will have to spell her name out as there are variations.

They are all very nice, but I slightly prefer Eloise.

Thanks all. Trout, Isabel is lovely, but with variant spellings, very high in the current E&W top 10, as is Sophia.

I don't like them but probably Eloise.

I called my baby Eve. That's timeless and classic!

I think all of those will date. Madeleine probably the safest out of the three. Eloise screams 2015 to me. Imogen very popular I think.

Nice names but I do feel they'd be dated....

Of them all my favourite is Eloise.

They are three beautiful names, you have great taste. I think Madeleine is perhaps my favourite. I don't think they are over fashionable in the same way as Isabella, Amelia or one of the Eve names.

Imogen is fantastic. Shakespearean and classic. I like Eloise too although not quite so much, I know a few too many toddlers called Eloise. To me Madeleine is the only one the screams 2015?? Or even 2011! I know of so many little girls called Maddie, I feel like it has already dated. Having said that it's a lovely name so if you're not so worried about popularity then it's a great option.

I know a Madeline who's 60, an Imogen who's 40 and an Eloise who's 17

I don't thing any scream 2015. Madeline gets called Mad or Maddy.

Imogen gets called Immie, which I like lovely Shakesperean name.

Eloise is named after the medieval nun who had the ill fated love affair but went on to be a fantastic and clever writer

I prefer Imogen. Though Cordelia and Rosalind are also great Shakesperean names

My favourite is Madeleine. And none of them scream 2015 to me.

I'd go for Madeleine, that would have been my name for a girl but we have a lovely baby boy.
