"Tree" names!

DH and I are quite taken with names associated with trees - I really loved Willow until my grandad decided to name his new dog that!

So anyway, the other night my hubby comes out with Elmar for a boy, to be shortened to Elm - I just can't decided if I love it or hate it! What do you think? Or any alternatives?

Never heard of Elmar, possibly Elmer? But its nice either way

We wanted tree names too. Silas means lives in the woods. I love that.

Oh Silas is beautiful! But we have an 'S' surname so avoiding anything that ends with 's' :(

Asher is lovely too, and Sequoia and Oren.

Was telling Dh about this thread and he says Kiefer (as in Sutherland) is German for pine tree :)

I have an Asher. He is usually called by his full name but is sometimes Ash. Works for both genders, although we haven't yet come across any other boys yet, and he's nearly eight.
