Last thread I promise!! Matilda vs Daisy pros & cons

It's me again! Time is drawing to a close & after my post last night about a middle name for Daisy Dh has decided he doesn't like Daisy & has gone back to a name I love too-Matilda. I choose Dd1's name Molly so Dh wants input into this one. So firstly apologies re all tge very similar posts, we have decided not to discuss our choices with people due to negative comments plus pressure from MIL to name baby after her, we just want to get it right!

Dd is only 1 & we have a small circle so don't know any Daisy or Matilda. So talk to me about the pros & cons of

Daisy Ophelia

I prefer Matilda though think Daisy goes better with Molly.
I personally wouldn't have siblings with the same initial either but I know that doesn't bother some people.
Not keen on either middle name - why not have Daisy Matilda or Matilda Daisy?

Matilda
Daisy never seems like a proper name for an adult to me.
I have the same 2 initials, as well as surname as DH and DD and the same initial first name as DB (obviously same surname growing up). Never been much of a problem.

I know it sounds ridiculous but I really love Matilda too & I don't want to.waste it as a middle name in case we have a third dd!!! I'm completely overthinking this!!!

Bikedynamic I have same initial as my sister too & we got on fine with that throughout our childhood.Our names did sound slightly matchey but not twee... I don't know anything really about either name except I think Daisy is around no 19 on the UK chart & Matildas in the low 40s. Matilda would probably end up Tilly but Dh & I could live with that, there are worse nn's!

Any other opinions? After much googling last night, think I'm starting to veer towards Matilda too! Think it's a strong name, love the meaning mighty in battle!!! So its looking like dd2 will be a Matilda Florence! Would appreciate any input as I mentioned above we're not discussing with anyone else!

Numberfaker that's a great idea!!! X I know both names are popular but it doesn't bother us, we want to find names we genuinely love. Dd1 is Molly & the popularity didn't put us off & people always comment on what a nice, old name it is! X

Matilda by a mile. My reason being, Daisy doesn't (IMO) pass the 'lawyer test' - it's a cute, child's name, less convincing for an adult in any kind of serious profession.

It really would be a shame if you didn't use Daisy Ophelia. It's an awesome name and I might be forced to steal it if I have a girl and you don't use it! I think Daisy is a perfectly suitable name for a grown up and Ophelia is so beautiful. There's nothing wrong with the name Matilda, although I personally don't like it, I also know how much of a pain in the arse it is to have a sibling with the same initial who opens your post...I also know a few Matilda's already (just two in the UK, but another in France and another in Germany...Which makes me think it's becoming popular...It also just makes me think of the Roald Dahl book... Or Tilda rice...that said, I do like the nn 'Tilly'.

Oh and about the 'Lawyer' test, there was a girl on University Challenge a few years ago called Daisy Christodoulou, who basically answered every question correctly. She had such a big impact that I still remember her name, I'm sure she's probably a doctor or a lawyer or something now...

I wouldn't mind Molly & Tilly at at all, I think Molly & Daisy equally cutesy!
I dont like Mattie at all, I know it's impossible to control a hn, we would try our hardest to keep it to Matilda only but could totally live with Tilly, Tilda maybe not....

My DD is Daisy Ophelia so I think that's a fab name.

BTW Daisy whatsit from University Challenge is now doing something impressive in educational consultancy. I always think my Daisy can use Ophelia if she thinks Daisy is too babyish. Mind you, it's more grown up than her nickname... (Doodle)

Funnily enough Matilda, Daisy & Molly were our short list for DD1! We went for Matilda & so pleased we did, still absolutely love it! Strong & sweet & although more popular now not over used. Of course I'm biased & Daisy nice too but Matilda every time, fab name!
