Hi, it's me again Grin.

Can I have people's opinions on these names?

And also, which 3 you think best go together, and which go best with the names Autumn and April?
Having a hard time deciding, thanks everyone!

Autumn, April, Ivy, Ember and Eve.

Opal is a little too similar to April although a lovely name.

Opal is too similar to April

I don't like yara ( plus autocorrects to Tara which is irritating)

The others are nice

Can I ask if there is a particular reason you don't like Yara, or do you just not like it?

Thank you for your opinion Sundaedelight.

I don't know the name Yara and it doesn't roll with the others easily IMHO. If you like it though, use it!

I didn't know it until just now, it means 'small butterfly'. Which I just thought was sweet. Was thinking of possibly Tara, but I have realized that vowel names are going better with Autumn/April.

No no no to Ember.
I had a lovely teacher called Opal (yes I knew her by first name).
I still like Eve best.

Can I ask why you don't like Ember?

I like Eve the best too and think it goes well with April and Autumn.

I'm not keen on Ember either and that's because..... I don't think it looks very pretty and I don't like the idea of something sitting in the fireplace, glowing but gradually burning out. I mean, that's fine for embers but I just don't feel it translates very happily to a baby's name. If that makes sense.

I prefer Amber. Actually Ember sounds like how someone with a terribly camped up posh accent would say Amber.

Ember is glowing dying bit among the dirty gray stuff in the fire.
EVERYONE will think you meant Amber, too.
Opal is lovely without being weird, mind.

We don't want another A name, which is why we thought of Ember, since we like Amber.

Eve is our favorite, but obviously need two that go with that and April and Autumn, so it's hard to find things that fit well.

I was also going to say that Ember sounds like misspelling / mispronunciation of Amber. And why would you want to name a baby after something that is dying ?

Like them all...apart from Ember (I think you will be constantly correcting Amber) and Yara in the accent here sounds like "you all right?"

Just thought Ember sounded pretty.

MiconiumHappens, where are you from?

Would really like to know which 3 people think go best together.

Ember is something that is dying. It's beautiful and warm and I love staring in to a fire so I can see its appeal but still, it's dying. Prefer Amber.

Opal is a car. But that's not why I don't like it. I like the name Clio and that's a car.

Yara, no, I think Tara and Lara are nice though.

Eve goes, as it's a time of day. Then you have a season, a month and a time of day. eve is beautiful.

Mumpire, never realized Opal was a car. Still a pretty name though.

What other two would you think go with Eve? Didn't even think of it being a time of day. Just came from another poster thinking it was Christmas related.

How are you pronouncing Yara? To rhyme with Lara?

Report
QuickQuickSloe · 01/11/2013 20:54

Also, when is your DD due?

Report
CountingStars · 01/11/2013 20:55

Yes to rhyme with Lara.
They are due in december/january, but wouldn't be surprised if it was early December.

Ember, ivy and Eve I think, they go well as triplet names and sit with your other dds names. I don't like Yara, its just odd imo, and Opal is just not as nice. I really like Ember, its my favourite out of your names above. Hmm at the its a dying fire - yeah embers die, but ivy destroys walls, autumn is cold and goes into winter, april rains, amber is dead tree sap - you can do that with any name that means something else directly!!

I'd go with ivy, opal and eve. They go well together, and with your older DDs.

Yara is one of my faviourite names actually (may try to persuade DH if we ever have a girl!) but I don't think it's sits so well with any of the others.

Ivory is pretty, but will constantly get mistaken for ivy I think, which will be annoying for your dd.

And I agree with what others have said, ember just doesn't have good connotations for a name.

How exciting t have triplets on the way!

I think Eve, Opal and Ivy go best together, but I am not sure about Opal. Aren't they supposed to be an unlucky gemstone?

I know you are not wanting any A names but how about Alba, from visum alba loranthaceae aka mistletoe? Or Ilex for holly?

Vatta, I think I have to agree with you on Yara, but it's such a pretty name (imo).

QuickQuickSloe, Ilex sounds okay, but it seems a bit like Alex to me(not that I can complain with the whole Ember/Amber).
