What do you think? Love Liv, and considered it for DD, but just didnt feel brave enough at the time. Now, I like Olive and Liv. However, I live in a very Connor/Jack/Sophie/Ella area. Olive and Liv would both be equally Hmm to most.

Wwyd?

I think Liv is a lovely nickname.

I think Olive is just awful though, I think of Olive Oyl or Olive from On The Buses (which I've only recently seen for the first time, God it's crap!)

What about Livia or Lavinia or even Olivia?

Oh and don't care what the neighbours think!

HMmm....not keen on the other longer names, though Olivia would be the safest bet all round to get Liv as a nn.

DD has a 'nickname' as a full.name but it doesnt feel like a nn, if that makes sense, and DH would, if left to his own devices, have just Liv - but it doesnt sit right with me.

Well Olive is quite trendy these days, if you love it you should use it.

Wikipedia says that Liv is an old Norse name which means 'shelter'.

How many syllables does your surname have? If it is long then Olive is lovely but it might be a bit stark with a short surname.

Two syllables but the first syllable is a long one. Sort of Cambridge, but not Cambridge.

I know one Olive.

She's a bright, charming and beautiful little girl. I think she's around 5 now.

It's a beautiful name.

I'm not keen on it myself, see no problem with Liv as a first name. I think of Liv Tyler and think it sounds classic and pretty.

I like it. It's beautiful and really cool.

My Nan was Olive, never struck me as odd until years later.

Liv is lovely!

My Nan was called Olive too Gaius! You're not from Oxford are you?

Anyway, when people first started using it again, I was a bit aghast, but it has really grown on me. A much nicer and more classic way to get Liv than anything apart from Olivia which is v popular now.

I don't like it sorry

And especially don't like Olivia, but Liv is quite nice

Agree with the suggestion of Lavinia

Hmmm.....I.am very pleased to see Liv getting a good response.

DD is Meg. Do you think they go enough?

I love it. I know a gorgeous little 7 year old Olive, she is known as Ollie to close friends and family but Liv is a great nickname too.
