Girls names. We are having a little girl.

DH is set on Sophie and is already calling her Sophie despite my objections. I think it is far too popular! He likes 'cute names' and all his choices are popular...

Sophie
Evie
Lily

I like less cutesy names and as one of 3 people in primary and secondary school with the same name and always being 'first name Surname' I just don't want that for my DD

I like names such as

Eden
Imogen -yes popular but at least it doesn't end in an 'ee' sound
Lyra
Arya etc etc

Please can I ask for your help in suggesting alternatives for us? Maybe something girly but not the no. 1 name in te country? Lol

The only name we both don't want to veto from each other is Keira. Which was DH suggestion

Middle name will be Caitlin and surname begins with H and is one syllable .

Thank you! desperate to not have a Sophie

Charlotte nn Lottie?
Lucy
Libby
Georgia
Eliza
Matilda nn Tilly?

I quite like Lily and Imogen. My Ds will be one of several no doubt as very, very popular but was the only boys name I really liked. Grin

I have already said Georgia nn Georgie but he says no Sad

No compromise on Eden nn Edie, he has completely vetoed Eden in any capacity and laughs Sad

He also hates Imogen.

I don't mind Lily but our surname is Horn and he is quite big so I have images of them being referred to as 'Lil' Horn and Big Horn Sad is that mad?!

Sorry but I think Sophie is the nicest out of all of your suggestions...

I know capt... I don't actually mind Sophie if it wasn't so popular. I have never met an unpleasant Sophie either, so I decided to look for alternatives to both our suggestions. I can't complain about him trying to make me call it Sophie while I try do the same to him.

cracks open name book

Sophie is lovely and I actually don't know any children call Sophie (I know a few adults though). I don't think it's that popular at all round here (north west). Can't move for Lilys and Evies though.

this is why i'm very grateful we had a boy, DS likes either 'cutsy' or '80s classmates' girls names, all the ones I like are too posh apparently...

what about something like Rebecca/Becky? (you can push for 'Becs' or full name once she's here) Harriet (Harry). Helena (Nelly). Agatha (Aggie).

Sophie was popular but not so much now. There is one in my DDs class, but 2 Evies and 2 Ciara/keiras. Always makes me think of Sofa, though, and it is not a name we'd considered!

DD is Naomi - only one in the whole school.
