Whaddya think?

We're looking for two-syllable names, for very complicated and pointless reasons.

Too similar in my view. They're already twins, when they grow up wouldn't they appreciate more distinguishable names?

Love Thomas but Tobin too similar.

Thomas and Jacob

Thomas and Phillip

Thomas and Henry

Absolutely not. Two-syllable names fine. Same first letter and first sound - wrong, wrong, wrong.

Tobin not good

Too similar, too twee to have same initial. Give them some leeway to be their own people!

tobin makes me think of Peter Tobin...... not a good thing

I like the idea of the same initial lots of siblings have this who arent twins but maybe ones that arent so similar.

Thomas and Theo
Tobin and Theo
Thomas and Tristan (my fav by far)

I think if your going to choose tobin which is not as popular and thomas very popular then it opens doors to jealousy who got the unusual name etc.
Ultimatly its your choice tho.

or who was named after a train and who was named after a serial killer

I think you need to avoid having both their names starting with the same letter.

They're going to be forever opening each other's mail when they're older! I like both Thomas and Tobin as names in themselves, but not for twins.

Dislike Tobin.

Thomas and something else not beginning with 't' would be better.

twinmumplus1inthetum · 22/06/2011 20:38

don't give them name that start with the same letter - everyone will muddle them enough, and similar sounding names will make it even harder

Tobin was a serial killer in Scotland and possibly England.

My first thought was Peter Tobin

Love Tobin, LOVE LOVE LOVE. Not so keen on the Thomas but at the end of the day darling, these twins are part of you, they're half you! so whatever you like, they're likely to love in the future!
Good luck

Peter Tobin is a very bad criminal (rapist and/or murderer?).

Do not use Tobin!

Report
KoolAidKid · 22/06/2011 22:38

Tobin has bad connotations. Thomas is fine.

Thomas, yes. Tobin, no.

It's really important to treat twins boys as individuals, using the same initials doesn't achieve this. It's impractical too - think about medical records, schools, post, etc.

Good luck with the name game, it took us ages to name our twin boys :)
