dd is 7 and has lovely name that everyone raised eyebrows at when we had her. There are a few now though so I like to think I started a trend.

Can anyone give me the names they would like to name their dc if they were brave enough. I am not a 'chav' btw but just don't want a name that I have some previous connection to....tricky as I live in a big village with a big school.

so ladies ..go for it please.

the names i thought were 'cool' when i was naming my children weren't names I was 'allowed' to use. (Wouldn't use an o name now but 8 years ago I wanted to)
but here goes

Victor, Howie, Thaddeus, Saul, Bruno, Frederick/Fritz Patrick/Patch

Maggie, Dulcie, Vivien, Hazel, Meryl, Miriam, Greta, Lois, Clio

Somebody will laugh their head off at my choices now. Girls are so much easier.

thank you VS, DH is the one saying you can;t name a child that but I have a fairly unusual name and I like being different. My dd suits her name and people still say what a lovely name..its just hard to find another one because of this chav culture.

Arnold, Bertram, Cosmo, Merlin, Basil, Murdo, Douglas, Malcolm, Gregory, Ariel, Boaz, Murray, Lev.

For a girl Dixie, Nellie, Coco, Billie, Dulcie.

Boys names are harder. Roman (a handful of these at DS's school), Saul, Sol, Rudy.

Her name is willow, I love it , it suits her and it's different but not crazy.. I realise it has been on the chav list but I do not live anywhere chavesque and like I say we named her before all this chav rubbish started. My favourite names are misty (girl ) and Felix or Sebastian but dh likes none of them.. I just want something I have never heard of yet is neither chav or pretentious . Names are so Personal , it makes it kind of tricky .

Cant think of a cool name for a girl, but for boys i love beau, thor, tor, Finlay and Sid (i know it doesn't fit with the others but i love it). I named my son Baylin.

I love beau.. Not sure dh will go for that though .. How did you find baylin ? I have seen a few unusual name books but they seem to be full of foreign sounding names.. I like the earthy ness of willow , if that makes sense.

I came across a girl's name, Persis, in one of the Anne of Green Gables series recently - thought that sounded cool but easy to spell and pronounce.

Willow is gorgeous

I was going to suggest Rowan as well. It would go really nicely with Willow.

I really wanted Nathanial for DS2 but got over-ruled. I also really liked Seth for a boy. Our girl list was Evelyn and Eliza but neither got used as we only have boys.

Rowan - nice name though it is - has been rendered uncool for the forseeable future by the Archbishop of Canterbury, I'm afraid.

I love the name Agatha. If I had a girl I'd use it, definitely.
