Me and my boyfriend love love love this name, to the point where we just cannot agree on any other girl's name. My boyfriend doesn't care, but I am getting a bit caught up in the worry of her being one of about 6 Rubys in her class.

How many Rubys do you all know? And am I being precious? grin

I know 3 - 2 in DS's school (both age 5) and niece (age 9 months).

I think it was popular about 5/6 years ago, don't hear many babies of this name now.

I know one Ruby who is 10.

No babies. Just 3 million 7 and 8 yr olds.

I don't know any. I think this kind of thing varies a lot from area to area, there are hardly any Graces or Ellas here but thousand and thousands of Amelias.

I know quite a few - about 5 in the 2-5 age range.

I only know one. She is 7.

Lovely little girl.

I know three aged under three, but they are all dogs (two labradoodles and one spaniel, I think).

Sorry, know so many it is difficult to count. Also think it is a name that will date very quickly, think Gemma or Julie. Nice name though and congratualtions.

I know two aged about 11. and a 2-year old devastatingly adorable jack russell.

My niece (19 mo) is a Ruby. (My SIL was always going to call her daughter that name if she had one.) Also know a 10 yo Ruby (sister of ds1's classmate).

nancydrewrockinaroundxmastree Tue 30-Nov-10 14:20:48

One 9 year old; one 4 year old and a baby.

But wasn't it the second most popular name for 2009?

nancydrewrockinaroundxmastree Tue 30-Nov-10 14:21:16

Actually I also know a Ruby in her 30's.

fel1x Tue 30-Nov-10 14:22:01

flopsy1974 Tue 30-Nov-10 14:31:52

Well I don't know any, nor have I ever known any.

wigglesrock Tue 30-Nov-10 14:32:02

I know one, she's 78!! I know more Scarletts!!

spidookly Tue 30-Nov-10 14:34:24

It is such an ugly name.

sethstarkaddersmum Tue 30-Nov-10 14:34:42

I know quite a few. There were 2 in dd's year at nursery and there is one in reception and will be one in ds2's year (this is out of a class of about 15....)

JBrd Tue 30-Nov-10 14:45:49

I know two - both are under a year old. It's definitively in the top 10 most popular names at the moment.

8rubberduckies Tue 30-Nov-10 14:48:49

It was number 2 in 2009. I know quite a few under 3s, due to having a ds aged 2, and don't know any Rubys, but was just wondering if I'm unusual. grin at all the pets called Ruby!

nannynobblystockingnobs Tue 30-Nov-10 14:52:37

I don't know any, apart from older family members- it's an old family name passed down the generations (Robina, Ruby for short). I would have liked to use it but it was suddenly too popular in the media for me. I blame Charlotte Church!

TheUnmentioned Tue 30-Nov-10 14:54:13

rubyslippers Tue 30-Nov-10 14:55:54

CharlieBoo Tue 30-Nov-10 20:38:49

I don;t know any, live in the south east...I really really like it, but agree it could be annoying if there's millions of them....
