Attempt at mandala stone painting

I know it's far from perfect, I am not arty in the slightest, prefer words but I saw some mandala stones on Pinterest and they were so beautiful, I couldn't resist having a go. I'm not sure where the past two hours went, I was in a trance I think😂

That’s lovely :)

And you’ve just reminded me that I gave DD a kit for Christmas that she has yet to try. I might encourage her to have a go this weekend.

It's so much fun and relaxing. I just got nail art dotting tools from my local beauty shop, looking forward to trying them out later today 😊

Beautiful! I have large stones in my garden. You've given me an idea for spring.

My first attempt at a spirals mandala pattern 😊 @AnarchyKitty your garden stones would look stunning and it doesn't cost much at all 😀

That's beautiful, been dying to try something like this out but where do you get big stones if you've got no garden and aren't near a beach?

Hmm I'm not sure @Slitherout I know you can but flat pebbles online but that makes the costs rise a bit. Perhaps some industrial type business could help?

It doesn't have to be stone either, mandala patterns can be done on canvas, wood, ceramics etc. Plain plates made fancy!

Garden centres have them. Probably in the landscaping area? DIY stores probably have them in a similar area. I think the palm sized ones are called river stones.

I ran out of stones and the snow up here in Scotland prevented a coast visit. Picked up a heart shaped plate and 3 hours later, snowflake mandala heart 😊

And another two. The pink, purple and blue one is entirely my own pattern, felt it was time to try making my own instead of adapting ready made ones 😊

OP, they're lovely, you're a natural.
I had seen these painted stones before but didn't know the name of them.

Thank you, it's fast becoming an addiction, my home is slowly being overrun with acrylic paint, dotting gadgets and paint smears ConfusedSmile

They are beautiful OP.

I have seen them on Pinterest while looking for painted stones.

There is a big thing in the town where I live where people/children paint stones and hide them. Then have fun looking for others. They are all over in random places round town it's really exciting when you find one Grin

I have just started hiding stones! The slate hearts I sell, the stones I am going to keep hiding as they are only little and don't take long to do. A mumsnetter told me about the fb group, love on rocks which is all about hiding stones! Problem is, I'm very rural and I don't think many people visit the stony beach my way 🤔

Just been watching a video on Youtube, it's mesmerising.

It stems from Buddhism, though I am not a Buddhist! Tibetan Buddhists do Mandalas as part of their rituals. You are so focused placing those perfect dots, you can only be in the moment, so good for those that have anxiety say, to help focus on the here and now 😊

I've just watch a video of them making one out of sand. Beautiful.

When the mandala is finally finished, however long it takes for the monks to deal in this divine geometry of the heavens, they pray over it — and then they destroy it. ... Because the underlying message of the mandala ceremony is that nothing is permanent.
