A letter arrived at my address for him today.

I mean at best it's just a blimmin' cheek particularly as relations are at a low point currently

But I googled the name on the envelope and its a commercial bank and private investigation company.

So either he is investigating me or he is being investigated. What else could this be? Should I be worried?

I think you should simply open the letter.

maybe call them up and tell them he does not live here, and give his actual address. tell them perhaps he has given that address by mistake, however it is not his actual address

he is def up to something dodgy - using hte house as collatoral, fake id, loans????

Contact the company using the details inside the envelope.

but opening the letter which is marked strictly addressee only would be illegal right.
Might do that tomorrow Firawla.

it isnt illegal if opened in error

and if you are really worried you could say that a child did it, it was delivered to your house after all

The company website says they do all sorts of investigations from fraud, people searching, id. But why write to this address. It's not even marked c/o citronella. Just xh, citronella's address.

I cant believe you wont open it

You must be very good

I would have opened it. You could just say that you weren't looking at who it was addressed to because you're the only adult there so open all post automatically?

Sounds v.dodgy to me.

CarGirl · 09/11/2009 21:49

if he has never lived there just stick it back int he post box "return to sender, not at this address"

Report
citronella · 09/11/2009 21:52

Don't feel comfortable about opening it. If he's checking up on me then I'm pretty much stooping to his level by doing that.

At the same time I'm a bit scared to open it. It could be Pandora's box.

I think I'll sleep on it and tomorrow I'll photocopy the envelope with the company's address and like Firawla said ring them up.

Or maybe I will open it

Or maybe not

As if I haven't got enough to worry about without this sort of nonsense!

I would return it, as cargirl suggests, with "not known at this address"

and check the voters register, could he have got himself put on that?

Report
citronella · 09/11/2009 21:56

How do I go about checking that nighbynight?

electoral roll at local council offices I think.

Do you own or rent this property? Either way he could mess up your credit score for you by getting into debt at your address.

That's what I was thinking too. We once lived in a house where the ex occupiers took the piss with debts run up at our address for ages. Also, several fines for driving offences landed up with us too.

I rent this one and own the one where he lives. The one i own is up for sale.

Where is a fed up emoticon when you need one?

I'd be very concerned, return to the letter AND phone them.

I would accidently open it, whoops.

I sent the previous owners of my house, all their mail, onto their solicitor til they asked me to stop - they did some kind of flit and I still get letters from loans people for them. Had bailiffs round not long after I moved in too.
