to get annoyed that Pampers just don't hold as well as Lidl or Tesco nappies?

I've always used Tesco or Lidl nappies on DS. They are fantastic, great value, soft and last the whole night through.

Last week i spotted pampers on offer at Tesco and grabbed 2 large packs. In the last 4 days, each time DS does a number 2, it leaks out the side of his nappy.

The amount of vests, socks and even shoes i've had to through into the washing mashing as a result is unreal.

I would have thought that these premium range nappies would have been more reliable???

YES YES!!!! This is what me and my mum have been saying about pampers recently. THEY ARE CRAP. Tescos really are FAR better! I also spotted a 'bargain' () and used them for a few days before becomming completely peed off with how useless they were. I couldn't wait to use them up and get back to tescos! Tescos always hold for me.

Unfortuntaly I'm only half way through my first pack so its gonna be a while before i get back to Tescos. Its that last time i fall for a bargain lol.

I used to be a real fan of tescos (they do several- I like the ones in the purple packet) but have been really disappointed recently. Seems like they have changed and are less absorbent- this has coincided with a change in the picture on the front of the packet and the nappy itself, so I am wondering if they have changed manufacturers.

I am gutted as I used to love Tescos nappies but have now gone onto Pampers - no where near as good as the old Tescos IMO but better than the new version.

I always find these threads a mystery as for me, pampers are the only ones that DO last the night! Must be something to do with our dc's shapes and, erm, toilet styles!!

Don't like Tesco either though.
Prefer asda then sainsbos.

Pampers look more comfy and are softer but they leak nearly every night.

Agree with Casserole. When our DS was younger, he was in Tescos nappies and woke up every time he had a wet nappy. It was only when he had pampers that he slept through night time accidents.

exactly casserole, its not anything to do with the quality of the nappy on the whole, it depends on the shape and er, style of the child. I have 3 children, and what works for one doesn't work for another. Example DS1 with his tiny skinny waist, no bum to speak of and thin chicken legs, needed one brand; DS2 with his chunky bum,big thighs and explosive digestive tract needed a completely different kind of nappy.

I agree with Casserole, it depends on your child - we always found Pampers best for DS and most other ones we tried were leaky. So YANBU to not like how they fit your DS, but it doesn't necessarily mean they are bad!

sorry i have to disagree, weve tried every other brand of nappy and ONLY pampers works for our two, 2 and 11mnths any other kind causes explosions and rashes!

I think each nappy brand suits a size and shape of child!

Tescos definately worked the best for us, the pampers were always leaking, and again didnt last very long.

Another vote for Pampers here. Tried lots of different brands with DD, but Pampers Active were by far the best.

So I've stuck with Pampers for DS (5 months). Although, I am finding that the Baby Dry are leaving red marks around his slighty-chunky thighs. I didn't think he was active for the Active ones, although that's probably silly and I should stick him in them.

Those of you who rate Lidl nappies, is there just one brand there? I might give them a try.

Well I'd always just used Pampers nappies up until quite recently when I read folks on this board extolling the virtues of supermarket own nappies so I bought Tescos ones to give them a try. My experience wasn't good, the first thing that put me off was how hard they were compared to Pampers and the second was that they weren't nearly as absorbent and after two nights being woken up by my DS complaining about a wet nappy I threw them in the bin and went back to Pampers Active and my DS went back to sleeping through the night

The DemonicButDandyLi....Lidl do their own nappies called Toujours. I would rate them highly and are fantastic value.

I have to disagree, actually. I used Lidl nappies for a time and they leaked. Pampers all the way for us.

Which pampers are you using??

The active fit ones are good. The babydry ones are ok. The simply dry (or something like that) ones, which are normally cheaper. are rubbish. And small.

But the active fit ones (and babydry at a push) are way better than any other make.

With DS2 we've found that pampers new baby are absolutely dire. They just do not seem to have any capacity for holding any quantity of runny breastfed baby poo. This seems like a terrible design fault.

We decided to go down the cloth nappy route instead. We'd been planning to anyway, but wanted to wait a few weeks to get used to having an infant again before getting to grips with washing nappies etc (DS1 is 9, so it's been a while). It is a bit of a nightmare to decide what kind of cloth nappies to get (way too much choice), but we decided to go with a 2 part system with shaped nappies and waterproof wraps. They make his bum enormous (hilariously so) but they're so much better. We haven't had a leak since (we got them 3 weeks ago). And we get to feel less guilty about all the extra landfill waste. Admittedly, they are quite a lot more hassle than disposables but we like them anyway.

we use a mix of cloth and tescos. when we use pampers my son comes out in a very sore rash within an hour of putting it on.

I love the cloth but cant get them to stop leaking at night so we use tescos at night

I have found Pampers to be a bit useless of late, Huggies all the way in our house. They fit my little DD really well.

Pampers Active fit are the only ones we use! ahve tried shops own, all leaked. Tried the new pampers simply dry, they leaked worse than shops own! Pampers baby dry are ok, and hold well, but the active ones are definitely the best fit.

All teh extra washing (wet cot every day,numerous vests & outfits per day) would definitely detract from any savings made on nappy price imo!

Have to say though, havent tried Lidl ones.
