Woman at the parent & toddler group has bought & wrapped all her xmas presents. How dare she be so organised!

AIBU to think she is a bit loony? my kids will change their minds about a million times about what they would like between now & December

YANBU!

lol - my jealousy that would make me think that! I did it once and would never do it again, right enough, as almost every present I bought in October one year had already been bought for themselves by the recipients by the time Christmas came round!

I used to start my xmas buying in september when I was on benefits because it was the only way I could afford to get presents for everyone.

I still buy in oct/nov now just because I do all my shopping online. She is a loon to have finished buying them, to have wrapped them and to be showing off about doing it though.

YANBU.

Wrapping presents on Christmas Eve with a vat glass of mulled is my favourite Christmas activity.

Where's the fun in doing it on a sunny August afternoon?

potplant · 24/09/2009 16:45

mulled wine obviously.

I met a friend in late July...we don't see each other that often and live at the opposite ends of London (although there is obviously a (periodic!!) postal service.

Anyway she handed me Xmas and (December) birthday presents.

Problem is that I am so disorganised that by Xmas I will have forgotton all about them.

November I can just about handle - but July!!!!!!!

I am starting mine soon because I will be in hospital having ds2 on Christmas Eve - so I want to be super organised in advance hope this doesn't make me a loon too.

absolutely fine if you have good reason & dont boast about it!

But this woman's reasoning was that she hates doing it near christmas

Oh no I love christmas shopping when the shops are all christmassy normally on the 23 December and won't be boasting - don't fancy going round the shops at 9 months pregnant that's all.

She is clearly trying to make up for her total absence of a sex life

YANBU

I am normally a strictly December shopper but am trying to get organised early this year due to dc2 being due in December. I've written a few things on a list so far, but done nothing else I just really struggle to get motivated this early

YANBU how dull, now what's she going to do on Christmas Eve if not panic about the one present that she forgot. very unreasonable of her.

Saying that, I have just pur chased one present for DS1 and it's brilliant [smug], only got it because it's on offer until next week.

I'm with timmette. DC2 is due on the 27th Dec so I'm starting my xmas shopping next month.

I've also got to get bedrooms (and beds!) swapped, a new nursery sorted and a week in Center Parcs to fit in between now and then!!

There's no way I would fit it all in if I don't start soon!

And there are only 91 shopping days till xmas Riven...

The year I was so very organised and had all my cards written and addressed by April .....I fell pregnant with our ds3 and had to redo all the cards and add his name.

Presumably she will be baking a simnel cake on Christmas Eve.
Ye gods how I hate Christmas. I only buy for dcs and dh- no one else.
I do not send cards and any I receive get stuck in a drawer.
I have never, and do not intend to ever cook a turkey "with all the trimmings".
I hate Christmas menus in restaurants.
And paper hats.
And would rather poke my eyes out with a sharp stick than spend Christmas day with the inlaws.(so we don't)

yEs I do sound like a really miserable old bat don't I!!
However, we enjoy our own version of the day.
I just hate all the lead up, the magazines full of how to cook the perfect lunch and host the best party.
And I spend no more than £75 each on the children, £50 on dh, job done. Dh and I get no other presents from anyone, dcs from a couple of relatives.
I much prefer birthdays as they are personal.
Just off to pull on my fingerless gloves and frighten Tiny Tim.

I used to work with a nurse who bought all her presents and cards in the January sales, and had them all written and wrapped by March. Utter lunacy.
