AIBU?

To not give her £400?

That is how much my neighbour is demanding for new glasses as she is claiming that the tree in our front garden 'attacked' her and knocked them off! Now the tree does hang over the pavement a bit but it is high up! I have sat watching people of all heights walk by without incident including dh who is over 6ft, a lot taller than her! I want to shove her glasses where the sun doesn't shine!

That is what her insurance is for. If she couldn't see the branch perhaps she needed a new pair anyway?

I wish it was a wind up! She has been a pita since we moved in last year my kids are scared of her she is always outside shouting at someone

Cheeky woman...How dare she ask you for the money...
If you had hit them off her face with your hand then yes, maybe, but not cos your tree hit them off her face. As she has such a gaul...she had it coming i reckon. !! There is no way she can squeeze 400 smackaroonies out of you. If worried a lot go to the C.A.B. or a solicitor..

maltesers · 09/07/2009 12:43

The only thing you might do is cut the tree down a bit...but leave it a there a bit longer if she goes on, and gives you a hard time bout it.

It is getting pruned on Saturday. Some of you are making me lol, wish she could see this and realise how stupid she sounds!

Well, make sure you take photos of it, with your dh under it etc, so you can show it wasn't so low that you should reasonably have pruned it earlier, just in case she goes legal.

Tell her, she needed new ones anyway cos ifshe could'nt see the branch then the ones she's got are no good.

Lol. BitofFun has the right idea - however your DH will have to be prepared to look like one of those numptie Take a Break photos though

LOL told dh BOF's idea and he said he will then post one through her door! Won't let him though!

I think some people just go through life trying it on. She wasn't watching where she was going - nowt to do with you.

Some old bat on our street put a note through everybody's door last year suggesting that we might all like to pay for her trees to be pruned as 'this will clearly benefit you all'....she lives four doors down from us.

Yanbu, the glasses where not that good anyway if she could not see the big tree comming towards her!

MiniMarmite · 09/07/2009 13:21

Sorry but ROFL

YANBU, she sounds like one of my neighbours - thinks everything is someone else's fault and responsibulity. BoF has the right idea!

YANBU - tell her to sue you if she thinks she's got a case.

Should prune your tree back though - I need to do mine actually, how much is it these days?

Dd has some pink tat glasses that came stuck to the front of her Angelina comic. You could give her those

Have just nearly spat my toast out at gorionine! That's surely the perfect response.

It was 115 to get a tree removed, don't know about pruning my dad is doing ours. She just walked past me getting out my car and she had a big bit of tape on her glasses and was muttering I just ignored
