Made up swear words and other silly words that you and your family use.

I was just wondering about words you use at home.

When DS1 was little and he used to get cross he'd yell "Black egg!" That was his swear word.

DD likes to say "Shim,Shumper,Shandals" anything with a J at the beginning is SH. She is 12!

I have a habbit, which i got from my annoying father, of lengthening words in a stupid way such as;
asprins become aspidistrins.
strawberries become strawdleberries.
cats become puddingtats
i also use DDs old babywords like,titchtin for kitchen, or beebich for music etc.
very annoying im sure.

We drink a fair amount of blackcurrant and lemonade at home (though less now as I realise what an effect it is having (even though we use the sugar free versions) on my teeth ), and got into the habit of just calling it "purple pop". Then after a few glasses of wine one night, the words slurred and it came out as "bibble bob".

Now all our close friends ask for bibble bob when offered a drink.

I use 'rats' or 'nuts' as expletives. They've both got a satisfying hard edge to them - try it!

I particularly enjoy 'nuts' because it always reminds me of a young cousin who used it a lot because he thought it was a swear word and he was being frightfully naughty saying it. The memory of that always makes me smile (which usually takes the edge off whatever made me 'swear' in the first place!)

BTW, why is this an AIBU thread? Is it because made-up swear words are annoying? ;)

God knows how it originated but my children were always shocked when anyone said 'district nurse'.

Whizz was always a swear word in our house (started with my Grandad!). It means shit.

Even now if I visit my Grandad and he is in a jokey mood, he will not let me in the door until I say the 'password' which is Whizz in a very loud voice. I still feel embarassed saying it like its a swear word and he finds it hilarious!

we call milk moo juice as DS used to call it that when he was little...

and chicken is chinkin because one day DH couldn't decide between roast chicken or chinese for tea and accidentally mixed the 2- strange but true!!

dont think there is anything else really... there most likely is but they just seem normal to me!!

oh DS used to call me baba instead of mama or mummy so i have been nicknamed that by DH now!!

Not swear words but
mungle - go for a slow walk. Eg. I'm off for a mungle round town.
Squoze - tight hug.
Oh... DS2 says "oh bum jazz" when something goes wrong.

Skway May = Excuse me. It's how my niece pronounced it as a baby.

Schnib = a small knob or switch, like the thing you get on yale locks to lock them from the inside or the lock on the inside of a car door.

Therm = a unit of measurement which hasn't been defined. Such as the amount of volume lost or gained by pressing the button on the remote once, e.g. "Turn the telly up a therm"

'Frick on a stick' when something goes wrong. We also still say 'Or welkin' when someone says thank you, which is how DS used to say 'you're welcome' when he was about 3. Aww.

We have Snead, which is actually a place on the England/Wales border, but sounded like the sort of thing one might say when displeased.

Eg, "You beat me, snead you"
"Oooh you big Snead head"
"Oh Snead, I broke it"

etc.

I use the made up word or phase "I feel claustrophobiphised" like when dp puts duvet over my head or we have a daft fun fight and he covers me

God it sounds wank when It written down and I always thought it sounded endearing
