To be hurt by this prank

I'm in a tough spot at the moment and am being thrown out of my home and could do with extra funds so I entered a phone competition to win a lot of money. They will randomly call someone and you have to say a phrase to win the money (you've probably heard this competition if you listen to the radio in the UK). It came to the time where they were going to call the person and my phone starts ringing from a withheld number, obviously I answer and the phone is quiet for a minute... Then I see my friend laughing to himself, it was him that called me. He's aware of my situation and knows I'm struggling so I was hurt that he'd do that.

Your friend is a spiteful dick. I’m sorry for your situation and hope it improves flowers

Returnoftheowl Fri 26-Nov-21 21:21:09

That is definitely a mean trick, laughing at someone who's struggling isn't funny.

HollowTalk Fri 26-Nov-21 21:21:22

He's a real bastard. I'm so sorry he did that. He's not your friend.

AntiHop Fri 26-Nov-21 21:21:24

Friend? Like fuck they're your friend.

CoffeeAndDryShampoo Fri 26-Nov-21 21:23:10

What an absolute dick! Did he think that somehow you would find that funny?! I would never in a million years think about doing something like that to a friend. Sorry for your situation OP flowers

Tomthumbsbigbum Fri 26-Nov-21 21:23:38

That's really cuntish. I'd be swerving him for a good while, or, until he'd given a grovelling apology.

I hope things improve for you soon flowers

Not a friend.

However I cannot ignore the fact that you are spending money in order to rectify your bad financial situation.
Is that something we can help with?

Do you go on moneysavingexpert Competitions Time forum op?

I've won lots on that over the years, ipads, a PlayStation, £1000 Tesco vouchers etc.

cakecakecheese Fri 26-Nov-21 21:44:00

That's so nasty. Please don't stay friends with him.

Jibberjabberhutt Fri 26-Nov-21 21:44:50

Oh that’s so unkind. I hate stuff like this. It’s designed to humiliate and a friend would never do it.

Jengnr Fri 26-Nov-21 21:45:07

For future reference, I won some cds on Planet Rock once and they don’t withold their number.

Your ‘mate’ is a cunt though.

With friends like this who needs enemies? What a f**** cunt

Doingtheboxerbeat Fri 26-Nov-21 21:52:50

My DB would absolutely do this. There was someone we know who was really struggling - very little money to put in the electricity meter etc - and she was gifted with a fake winning scratchcard. My DB thought this was hilarious hmm.

grapewine Fri 26-Nov-21 21:56:50

What an absolute bastard. I'd tell him to fuck off. That's so mean.
