Posting here for traffic, just spotted this on Facebook and thought I should share. Potentially contains the toxin which causes botulism.

I like a bit of that with a bag of hula hoops. Cheers for the heads up. I'll probably still risk it (because it's my favourite Friday night snack) but I'll give the little ones an alternative instead.

I had Primula last night for supper and again in my sandwich for lunch. Been having a mild panic for the last hour since I saw the Food Standards Agency alert on Twitter, as I’ve also got a slightly dodgy tummy tonight. I know the risk is vanishingLy small, but that’s not helping right now. Normally I am incredibly rational, I promise!

Do they still do the prawn flavour? I had it on a cracker in the 90’s, it was lovely but I won’t bother if they’ve changed the flavour.

Ahh, Primula 🦐 🧀 spread. Brings back memories of the early 90’s.

Beef hula hoops with plain cheese flavour squirted in. 👌

Served with cheap fizzy white perry.

Pure class.

I remember my DM squirting this on ritz crackers for my Birthday party ....God I loved it .
Does anyone remember the proper, original Philadelphia in a little silver package ?? Not the tub stuff , the proper crumbly, amazingly dense , cream cheese .....I am a child of the 70s for certain Grin

I squirt it straight from the tube into my mouth. I am pregnant. Bugger. Perhaps this is a learning moment for me to think about the slovenly things that I do. Or perhaps I can just switch to a different type of cheese.

@Alittleshortforaspacepooper you’re creating life...slovenliness is allowed Grin

@AdoptAdaptImprove try not to worry too much, hope you’re feeling ok 🤞🏻

Botulism doesn't give you a "slightly dodgy tummy" it's a neurotoxin. Blurred vision, breathing difficulties, slurred speach etc.
It's potentially life threatening and very serious. Of all the food borne illnesses you really don't want, botulism is top of the list.

@Weedsnseeds1 nasty illness Sad

I reckon they could’ve put a quick headline on the news sites about it, it’s still available to buy on Asda’s site!

I LOVE Primula! I hope they sort it out very soon!

We buy it for the dogs. It's a great training and reward treat. They've been fine, Lol.

Itsahardknocklife I would assume it's an underprocessing or underdosing of an ingredient ( emulsifying salts for example) issue, so a theoretical risk, rather than actually identifying botulinum toxin in a product, or the recall would be a bit more high profile.

My colleague introduced me to primula on the Branston pickle mini cheddars. OMG! Divine!

@Weedsnseeds1 yes, it did state it was a precautionary measure.

@Rubyupbeat I’ve heard lots of people mention this as a treat for dogs, good tip for any future pups I might bring home!

I thought you were going to tell us it. I is not really made of cheese. That would not shock me.

Oh well, if it's got botulism in it, it's a nice cheapo home made Botix for everyone now the salons are all closed.
