AIBU?

To look at the DM online lead story this evening and think “Hmmm”? (Prince Andrew related.)

This is so transparent it’s hardly worth doing. Whatever the story that’s been squashed will find its way out.

Is this done kind of bizarre way to get traffic to the daily mail?

Can't think why else you wouldn't post more detail.

some* kind. Apologies.

The lead story is the Coleen Rooney thing?

Sorry forgot the photos for those who (understandably) prefer not to click.

Not for me @GlitterToast ! Definitely Fergie as the big splash at the top. Interesting. Are you in the UK?

No @ShetlandWife I’m not virtually marketing the scummy Mail. I’m slagging them off for their venal approach to journalism. Thank you for asking.

You're a Daily Mail reader and yet you're calling it 'scummy'?? Confused

I wonder what they’re burying in exchange for this pap? The “I visited him eight years ago to break off the friendship” bollocks was a couple of days ago. Maybe someone has some contrary evidence?

Hopefully Channel 4 news or some proper journalist will tell us all what’s being concealed.

Yeah, cos a bit of botox is going to smooth out all his problems.

I have to follow all the papers @WorraLiberty

For work.

Doesn’t mean I have to like them. In fact, the more you read, the more cynical you get.

I think the Mail is scummy but I still read it. It's called knowing your enemy.

You think it’s fine for the UK media to be doing deals to keep a story out of the public domain? A story about- allegedly- a British Royal paedophile. As long it’s a shitrag doing the concealing?!

If a broadsheet did the same, would you be outraged then?

Makes no sense to me.

Fergie should ask for her money back (misses point of thread) .

That's a new one Grin

It's normally "I read it in the hairdressers/PILS house/elderly relative.

Either way, you're happy to advertise for them so why not just own it? The DM is (and always has been in my experience) the most popular newspaper on Mumsnet.

You're not alone Wink

If she has really had a facelift, I think she should ask for her money back.

Obviously YABU for reading the DM, let alone spreading its poison via links.

You're aware that every page read contributes to its bottom line?

You’re quite right. A lot of Mumsnetters are apparently in a similar line of work. We have to pay the mortgage somehow Smile

Anyway, PP is right, we should all read the opposing side regularly.

The DM is no worse than the Guardian. No joke.

Before dropping the paedophile accusation - the described exchange took place in the UK, she was 17. Fortunately American law does not apply here.

Well if there’s any truth to the idea that a member we of the RF has hebephile tendencies of any sort OR has assisted a sex offender in HIS dodgy activities in any way, I think that’s genuine public interest.

There’s something too flagrant about swapping a Fergie Botox puff piece for whatever the story was and shamelessly splashing with it. Leaves a bad taste in my mouth.
