AIBU?

To use my lemon kitchen spray on my pancakes

I honestly don't think it's as bad as it sounds!

My husband, our two children and I were having pancakes tonight, and I realised I had forgotten to get one of those squeezy lemons, or an actual lemon so that we could have traditional lemon and sugar ones.

Well no problem I thought, I have a spray bottle of lemon juice under the sink I use for cleaning and it's just filled with Jif lemon juice anyway. So I took it out and sprayed my pancake, and offered it to them (obviously telling them it was lemon juice and not bleach).

They all looked at me like I had offered them poison and had Nutella instead.

Was it that weird to do? It tasted fine Confused

Um. No YANBU. What the hell is wrong with your family for not wanting to eat cleaning fluid? Honestly kids these days. SO entitled!

It needs to be kept in the fridge otherwise it goes mouldy

I don't the OP made it clear enough that JIF lemon juice is those plastic lemons you get filled with pure lemon juice, it's not a cleaning product.

How old are your kids? If they are young ud be really worried they’d try to drink or eat something from the cleaning cupboard. Other than that point, you are clearly barking Grin

I'm having Cif on my pancakes later. The Power & Shine Kitchen Spray has a lovely citrus tang

At least they didn’t have a friend found for tea. They’d never live it down.

I wouldn't fancy that. It's putrid. Wish I'd seen their faces!

I use domestic pine scented bleach as a substitute for pine nuts and it’s not done me any harm.

You were pretty desperate to have lemon on your pancakes!!! How long had it been in there? 🤢

More desperate to not have to go to Tesco yet again, already been twice today.
I use it alot for the sinks so probably put a new bottle in about 2 weeks ago, not that long.

No it doesn't go mouldy. They don't refrigerate it in the shops.

If it goes moulds then how come it’s never in the freezer section in shops? And don’t give me that “it’s before the seal is broken” bullshit because anyone who has ever examined one of those can clearly see you could open it with a strong gist of wind in the right direction. Hardly a child proof cap is it?

I’d have done it. And actually my husband probably would have too! In fact I’m fairly certain that the jif lemon I used tonight was older than my actual daughter 🤷‍♀️
