To think I need to see a doctor?

Or am I overreacting?
I'm 20, always tired- to the point I find it hard to do things (even fun things!) and on days off will often sleep all night & day 10pm-5pm with no breaks or food.

If I go to work I am exhausted by the end and find it hard to function/make myself dinner. I can't manage 2 days in a row, luckily all jobs I've had have been part time and had a day or two off between!

I have had my blood tested, vitamins and thyroid are fine. I have a heart murmur diagnosed when young but it's never been brought up by my doctor at any appointments. I find it hard to catch my breath sometimes and feel like my chest is tight/heart racing.

I regularly get dizzy/forget simple words.

I do have epilepsy but haven't had a seizure for 2 years and it's fully controlled by meds.

I'm feeling so awful tonight (tight chest, exhausted to the point of feeling dizzy and confused- I slept all night until 1pm today too!)

I was thinking potentially a form of diabetes? I'm really not sure.

Is it worth bothering my GP again? I haven't been since December when she told me my bloods were fine. She didn't seem too concerned unfortunately. Just said to drink loads of water, eat healthy (which I do) and get good quality sleep.

Not unreasonable in the slightest. I'm a GP and I'd want to see a patient again in this situation.

You can always request to see a different GP, if you'd rather see someone with a fresh perspective.

I agree you should go back to see your GP. Do you know if they tested your vit D? I don't think it's considered a routine test, but can certainly be quite a common cause of fatigue. Obviously not saying that's your problem, just a possibility

I see you've had your bloodwork done, did that involve iron? I was anemic and felt like that, could fall asleep at the drop of a hat. Once I got my iron pills in me that helped. If not iron, could you have depression?

Also make sure you don't have sleep apnea, that can be rough on a body too.

Random, but are you on the pill?

siestakey · 04/03/2019 00:54

@MyLittleNuggetPoppy No definitely not an iron deficiency- that was one of the first things my Gp suggested.

Also no depression.
Thank you! x

@MyLittleNuggetPoppy I have thought of that but surely my partner would realise when I sleep? Also don't snore and not a high weight.

@Bambamber Not sure it they've specifically looked at it, but they've said all vitamins looked fine so you would assume it's okay.

I don't eat much dairy but do take multivitamins.

@LibbyLily Thank you! That's good to hear, I didn't know if I was wasting time. My Gp is usually really thorough and often overruns on appointments! I've been in there 30mins before with her answering questions and her asking about my health.

I will book an appointment tomorrow morning. x

If the breathing gets worse is it overreacting to call 111? I'm not sure what an out of hours GP could do though tbh they'd probably suggest going and seeing my regular one!

I feel like I can't catch my breath/can't breathe in to my full capacity.

Is it CFS?

I’d definitely go back to the GP. If it takes a few days to get an appointment then keep a diary, what you do, sleep pattern, when you are particularly tired, food and exercise. The GP may find it helpful or you might see a pattern.

Have you asked for a print out of your blood results? Iron levels, for example, have a massive range of what is considered normal. Mine was right at the lower end but officially considered ok, I asked for iron tablets to get my levels to the higher end and felt much better for it. I assume this might be similar for other vits etc too.

@BuildAParsnip is that chronic fatigue syndrome? I have thought that but GP never suggested it. Can anything help that?

Glad all those things are good. I do suppose your partner would notice if you snore..lol. How long has this been going on for? Good you're making a new Dr. appointment, don't let Dr. don't you off.

@Bagadverts that's a good idea! I could write down the past new days that might help if I can go tomorrow. I literally can't exercise I'm so exhausted, manage a 40-1hr walk with the dog in the woods a few times a week. I don't eat badly either though due to sleeping have sometimes ended up eating one or two meals a day only.

@MyLittleNuggetPoppy Thank you, I won't. It's been going on for about a year now? Quite a while but got considerably worse the past 5 months.

@Ifonlybatshadhats I'll ask for bloods again tomorrow and definitely get a print out this time (maybe I could ask her to personally look at previous ones too?) it's usually the receptionists that ring and say 'oh yeah your bloods are all fine'

Try not to freak out it will make you anxious and not breath properly, it's happened to me, yet if you need medical help don't hesitate to call.

Just asked as I knew of a girl who's pill gave her these symptoms - something to do with the oestrogen. Probably extreme case but maybe as a last resort??

siestakey · 04/03/2019 01:12

@MyLittleNuggetPoppy Thank you, I'm actually not anxious surprisingly! I've had panic attacks before but I'm really calm right now despite being uncomfortable with breathing/tiredness. I just want to get to the bottom of this.
