AIBU?

Bright flash... wtf.

Our toddler just woke up, trying to get them back to sleep - suddenly a massive flash of light, less than a millisecond, definitely in the room, not from behind the blind/from outside. Both DH and I saw, nothing seems to have tripped in the room, all sockets working.
I refuse to go back to sleep, DH is being very blasé, and telling me to "get over it," I'm genuinely concerned about a fire risk.
AIBU to not rest until we've worked this out? Any ideas what it was?

Light flicker?

I was wondering if it could have been the flash on one of our phones? Both iPhones, could it be a blip like that?
Would a power surge be a plug socket causing it?
We've got one multiplug/extension lead that runs under the bed.
All I'm getting is 'woo' from google!

Ghost. Especially if out of the corner of your eye

Definitely a ghost

Definitely not 'corner of eye' sort of thing. I have the issue of retinal detachment that involves bright light in the corner of my eye mainly in the dark, but it was that both DH and I exclaimed at the same time and both saw it.
It was like someone took a photo with the flash on, but for a shorter time?

Unplug the extension cord. It's likely that. Though my iPhone has flashed on occasion but no notification.

I've had light switches spark, but only when I was actually switching them.

Change the extension cord and check the fuses jn the one you've been using.

Make sure any extension lead has power surge protection.

Perhaps a very bright meteor?

For that the clouds would need to have cleared though really.

If the room was dark, could it have been from a fleece type fabric? I know it sound daft but if you move them quickly in the dark? Its almost like a phosphorescent light but very brief.

Static electricity? Is the room very dry?

I'd like to know if anyone has a good explanation.

I had a similar flash about 6 months ago, not long after we moved into our new house. DD saw it too, and asked me what it was. It was daylight, so I suppose it's possible it was sunlight flashing off something? (but our garden is surrounded by trees)

I'm not woo at all. Really, really not. But I can't help feeling a bit nervous (still!). Doesn't help that a few things have happened since which have a reasonably plausible explanation, but which could also be explained by a ghost.

Still not feeling entirely settled and happy in our new home...

Were you or your DS wearing fleece pyjamas? My children have some and I have noticed that when they are moving about in bed sometimes there were be little flashes of static? Not a huge flash though, just more small sparks of light. I binned them!

No glowing. Nothing is explained by a ghost!

There’s a flash goes off on my DDs phone when she gets a message. So many messages 🙄 it’s like a strobe sometimes. Only notice it when all the lights are out and she’s asleep. No clue how to turn it off though.

This is creeping me out just the fact it was in the early hours of this morning.
I woke this morning and looked down next to the bed and the first thing I saw was DHs iphone, screen facing up, unlocked with the camera on. It creeped me out as everybody else was sound asleep.
I wonder if they have been glitching overnight

DH says he had this three times in his previous home, an electrician told him his house needed rewiring.
that did cure it.
I'd chuck that extension lead.

Op do you have a main road outside, I know that my house faces a road and even with curtains closed you can get an occasional flash from vehicles going by...

Why not put a sleeping bag or blow up mattress in there and you and husband sleep in there tonight so that you are in the room and can see if there is anymore flashes where it is coming from
