Mines stitched into the headboard of our master bed and under the kitchen units behind the kick boards

how much do you keep in your freezer?

I generally have £300 inside a sealed bag of brussels sprouts (which nobody will ever eat)

Also then have about £100 in the fridge freezer in the kitchen but this gets raided regularly.

Considering there has been a spike in home burglaries recently (particularly in my area anyway) maybe advertising all the previously unthought of places people might stash money, in a public forum like this, isn't the best idea?

How much is emergency cash? £100? Put it in the tin in the kitchen. £1000 stash it in a jacket pocket you hardly wear in the wardrobe. Any more than that- I'd keep it in the bank

I have no emergency cash stash. I need to go and check the freezer now in case DH has. Grin

In my bedside drawer inside a box of sanitary towels Grin DP knows it’s there, but nobody else does.

I haven't got an emergency cash stash. Am I doing something wrong?

I keep £50 in a drawer I never go in, not saying exact location.

I have a safe! You can buy one cheaply enough, and if you have the right tools, it’s very easy to secure well to a wall or floor in an inconspicuous place.

I have it in fridge with onions
Some in cardigan in wardrobe
Tin of beans in cupboard
Dog crate under bedding in plastic bag obviously
Some in always pads packet with actual pads

Roughly hundred in hundred in each

A580 I think we must be. What's it for? In case the window cleaner increases his prices dramatically? Confused

I don't stash any cash. What the reasons for keeping cash around? I doubt your home insurance would cover much if you were burgled/fire.

What the reasons for keeping cash around?

My home insurance covers up to £1.5k cash, not that I have anything like that lying around.

For me, having a stash is a security blanket. I spent years on the bones of my arse, having fuck all and scraping for every eventuality. I like to know that won’t happen again. Silly? Probably, but it helps.

I keep cash about in case something goes wrong with card sustems or ATM systems

Sparklingbrook · 15/09/2018 20:31

I have managed to get this far in life without needing a cash supply in my freezer so I can't see a reason to start now.

I pay the window cleaner by bank transfer come to think of it, same as the plumber and the washing machine repair place.

I don't really use cash for anything any more.

I add to mine occasionally and it's always been there. It was originally my "run fund" as I always planned to leave my ExH but I just like to know I have access to money if I need it.

I've got a secret bank account. That's different.

Hmmm we have a safe from previous owners...

Perhaps we should actually use it!

I quite like the idea of a safe for jewellery and important documents.
