To ask how much weight I can lose in 8 weeks? Help!

I'm 5 feet 3 inches tall, and slightly disgruntled to find out my scales say I weigh 153lbs. It's a good half stone more than I thought.

I have an event coming up where I'm wearing a costume and I thought I'd like to lose a few pounds to get under 10 stone for the photos etc. However now I don't think I'll be able because I'm starting off much heavier?

It's not the end of the world, Im happy how I look in general, and get away with carrying my chubby bits because I have a defined waist and mostly flat stomach (except with period bloat when I feel like a sack of shit physically and emotionally!) but vaguely thought I'd aspire to look my best for this event.

I eat what I like which varies a lot day to day, depending on hunger, I take a form of steroid medication too.

Totally confused looking online at what weight loss would be sensible in this instance, a pound a week would be cool but not sure realistic? Half a pound doesn't seem worth the effort though Grin

Wwyd if you were me?

2lbs a week if you try hard. So 16lbs which will take you below 10 stone

You can lose more than 2lb a week. It wouldn't be a healthy way to lose weight, and you may put some of it back on, but you could do it. No sugar, no carbs, limited portions of everything else.

Wwid? I'd forget about "planning" how much weight to lose and start meal planning, exercise planning and psychology planning (you know what makes you break a diet so plan to avoid that).

How much you lose will depend on how well you stick to your weightloss plan. Losing anything will make you feel better than losing nothing.

I have learned this the hard way over the years!

Is 2lbs really possible though? Is that not equal to a deficit of a thousand calories every day?

There are definitely some days I eat 2000 calories, but there are lots of others I eat about 1500. I definitely couldn't or would eat less than say, 1200 a day on average.

I guess I can up my exercise!

Eat 1200 a day and get toning. With not making any excuses you get can do it. I use mfp

NHS Weight Loss Plan online and via app - looks good and my friend has lost 9lbs in two weeks

Hope for a pound a week for 8 weeks. You will likely lose more if you stick to it and then you'll feel smug.

I'm not sure, I'm a similar size and weight and would like to loose a stone by the end of may for my holiday! Not sure it's possible but I'm going to try.

Being Captain Obvious, but things will probably be massively helped by staying away from booze, right? Sigh. No more cold refreshing beers, no more wine with dinner.

Low carb, no booze, after a couple of weeks combine low carb with intermittent fasting (like 5:2 or alternate day fasting). It's the only thing that works for me now middle-aged.

4-6lb per week on SW if you meal plan

Depends on your body, we’re all different. I’ve been losing 3lb a week since the beginning of jan by doing slimming world and giving up drinking. I wouldn’t say it’s unhealthy to lose more than 2lb a week, I’m eating the best I’ve ever eaten and haven’t been hungry at all!

Try doing some exercise. 30 day shred if you can bear it so you feel more confident for the photos.

3lb a week since January sound a lot, what weight did you start with? That's about three stone you've lost already!

I've heard lots about the 30 day shred. It seems like everyone who tries it sees some good results if they do it diligently! Is it on YouTube or do I have to buy it somewhere?

Try the blood sugar diet- it's an 8 week program and you lose quite a bit. There are threads about it on here.

A deficit of 1000 cals a day would be considered a VLCD.

You'd need a lot of discipline but in the mean time you can start upping your exercise and looking at meal planning so you're never caught short and reach for packet of biscuits.
