i am nearly 50, it's just all too hard now. i can't be arsed with it.

no-one understands or cares how much you fought to get to the position you have in life.

no-one listens to you, no-one wants to hear how you saw the pixies live numerous times or that you saw depeche mode in 1985

no-one cares that the job you do now would be dam near impossible without wordprocessing or at least a typewriter that had auto correct

no-one cares that that bands you once listed to were so supercool than music nowadays

that clothes just weren't available as they are now, we actually had to make clothing we liked.

etc

Sorry what? What are you not fighting?

Life moves on. Did you care about your parents or older relatives lives when they told you how hard it was or how the music you listened to was just noise. It’s just how it is.

I'm in my mid 40s and you have both my respect and deepest envy for having seen Depeche Mode and the Pixies live.

If I mention the bands I like to the younger crowd at work, all I get is 'oh, yes, my dad used to like them ...'

I'm nearly 50 too but I have no idea who the Pixies are or were!!!

I'm 54 and never made my own clothes. I shopped at Miss Selfridge and Chelsea Girl. But clothes were more expensive then.
I hated Depeche Mode but loved/love The Smiths. But plenty of great music around today.
Sorry you're in the dumps but getting old is not for wimps.

I have been watching Greece on TV with my daughter, singing all the songs, it brought back so many memories 😊

I love Depeche Mode, were they incredible live? Somebody was the absolute soundtrack to my teen years.

A card I got for my dad on his 60th said something along the lines of 'I may be old but at least I got to see all the cool bands'.
I would suggest feck everyone else and do your thing.

The world keeps turning. It shocks me how much things have changed since I was young but they have. It's a different world and of course I have changed too...

Things change. Learn to embrace it, show an interest in what's going on now. You'll recognise all the influences from the past 😉

One of the first marches I went on was for lead free petrol.
We've had lead free petrol for so many years that youngsters don't know petrol used to have lead in it!
Marches do change things.
