To think this a very odd 'save the date' thing?

DCousin is getting married and she’s sent out her ‘save the date’ thing, instead it’s plural... It’s save the dates!

She’s put a few different dates down, not evening explaining why etc etc. Just begins with “Here are our dates we’re considering.Put those plans on hold!’All our love, xyz”

I want to be slightly miffed but it’s hard since personalised biscuits are included and they’re quite yummy grin

Furthermore, she’s ended it with “Top hint: Keep colour schemes orange/white or maybe pink in mind” - Yes, that’s right. She said maybe.

AIBU to say this is very odd?!

Bloody hell. Because she's the first ever to get married <eye roll>

She must really really really want you there.

KarriPotter Sun 12-Nov-17 23:43:38

Is she telling you to dress in orange or pink or telling you to stay away from them because, assuming obviously, that they’re her bridal colours?
And yeah it’s weird to send out save the dates when you haven’t actually pinned down the date.

BlueButTrue Sun 12-Nov-17 23:46:34

No, she means consider colour schemes orange and white OR pink. I think she’s trying to say she’ll eventually decide on one or the other grin

These dates she’s given are in bloody February so hardly gives people that much time to sort things plans wise.

She’s a funny one, very dizzy but a heart of gold. She just thinks the world realise around her but doesn’t realise

What fresh hell is this?! Would I chuff be 'saving' multiple dates on the off chance that a relative might get married!

BlueButTrue Sun 12-Nov-17 23:48:31

Not there are admittedly only two, I have drop fed a little there blush

Oh OK, now I realise that this is probably just a your cousin thing rather than a new wedding planning thing. Still weird though!

Iamagreyhoundhearmeroar Mon 13-Nov-17 00:19:41

She wants to dictate the colour her guests will be wearing? Bloody orange? Self absorbed loon. Scoff the biscuits and tell her you're washing your hair on all the dates suggested.

Sashkin Mon 13-Nov-17 00:23:06

Does this make her a CbiscuitF, or a biscuitzilla?

PumpkinSquash Mon 13-Nov-17 00:47:46

If true, she's a freaking weirdo. No way would I be taking that seriously. I think "save the date" cards are a load of balls anyway, so to be expected to save several dates in the off chance it might be the day of their wedding is a definite new level of cheeky fkwittery!
Whatever happened to just sending out invites out?

Tartyflette Mon 13-Nov-17 00:51:26

What! Who the fuck wears orange to a wedding in February? You'll all look completely weird washed out.

Foslady Mon 13-Nov-17 00:52:33

If itytwo dates could one be the day of the hen/stag do?

Battleax Mon 13-Nov-17 00:58:59

So not "a few" dates but two possible dates? In February. It's eccentric but not outrageous.

SilverySurfer Mon 13-Nov-17 01:01:28

I would rather put my feet in boiling oil than wear orange and/or white so would probably book both dates with something more interesting well in advance.

WineAndTiramisu Mon 13-Nov-17 01:05:39

Is one the hen do, and the other the wedding?

eeanne Mon 13-Nov-17 01:39:35

What! Who the fuck wears orange to a wedding in February? You'll all look completely weird washed out.

Surely that depends on your skin tone hmm Lots of dark skinned people look great in orange all year round.

BlueButTrue Mon 13-Nov-17 08:40:37

The other one can’t be a hen date as we aren’t close etc! And it’s addressed to DH before me hmm

Perfect chance to have already booked a short break.

CautionTape Mon 13-Nov-17 08:44:03

I was recently abroad and saw a wedding where a gaggle of bridesmaids wore orange.

It looked like a meeting of the Hari Krishnas.

ineedamoreadultieradult Mon 13-Nov-17 08:44:35

Two dates this coming February? Shouldn't it already be booked by now and proper invites sent? I don't know many places you can hold a wedding with so little notice.

jaseyraex Mon 13-Nov-17 08:48:58

Would I hell be saving two dates! Shouldn't it be booked by now if it's in February? That sounds so unorganised, would wreck havoc with my anxiety if I received a save the date at this notice.

Also my colour scheme was burnt orange and my bridesmaids had some lovely orange wrap dresses. But I did get married in October and had pumpkins as decor so grin

Ttbb Mon 13-Nov-17 08:50:11

Your cousin sounds a bit annoying.

GailLondon Mon 13-Nov-17 08:54:44

Blimey! So people will probably turn up now wearing all different shades of pink and orange! That is going to look awful!

Laiste Mon 13-Nov-17 08:55:38

Aw she sounds excited and wants to make sure you can come. What's the problem?

Weddings are a big deal to organise and surely it's better to forewarn the important guests of how it's going? She'll let you know which date when it's settled and that wont be long now if it's for Feb.

If you're not that fussed about attending a wedding or it's very hard to save dates in your calendar then don't bother. But if it means a lot to you to be there then you can pencil in the dates.

(this is all more to some posters than the OP)

I would guess she's saying stay away from orange and white or pink because that's what the brides maids are wearing.

Laiste Mon 13-Nov-17 09:00:13

Personally i think some of these look lovely. Cheerful colours.
