AIBU?

To think if you've paid £200 for concert tickets you should actually be able to GET them

Name changed to an old name as this is quite identifying!

Bought tickets for DF's birthday to go to a concert this weekend. They cost over £200.

DM and DF decided to go to London for an extra night before and after the concert, booked train tickets, hotels etc. The gig is Friday. Train leaves early tomorrow morning.

Except the blasted tickets still aren't here. We've spoken to the ticket company. Apparently this is an antifraud measure. There's no way they can be reissued. No way they can get them at the venue. New tickets can't be sent to their hotel. The only way they can get these tickets is to wait at my house all day tomorrow in the hope the postman comes, then get a later (more expensive) train to London.

AIBU to think this is ridiculous? Surely it's not that unusual for people to extend a trip to London by a few days and the company could have sent them out earlier? Or reissued the tickets so mum and dad could get them at the door? It's a seated concert so no risk of us selling on the originals.

That stinks! What happens if they don't arrive tomorrow? We've had tickets sent to the house but they arrived earlier than that, and we made a mistake once but the ticket agent changed it to collect at the door rather than post them. We've also had tickets to a big name band that cancelled and didn't announce it widely. We only found out, word of mouth, at a different concert. Tickets cost a small fortune and then your treated like crap!! Hope you can get it worked out.

I don't know. It's stupid isn't it?
I'm so upset that something that's supposed to be a treat is causing my parents so much stress.

They're not printable E-tickets are they?

They're not printable E-tickets are they?

Yes, obviously that is why they have to wait in all day for the postman to bring them tomorrow Hmm

Who did you buy from and where is the concert? (If you don't mind saying).

I've had this a couple of times and the big ticket issuers have always cancelled the originals and left new valid ones at box office, requiring I'd to collect.

Is it possible for you to send them by guaranteed post on Friday afternoon so they get to their hotel by Saturday morning?

If they are seated tickets rather than standing they will let you collect replacements from the box office an hour before if they don't arrive. We had this happen too!

I meant to say I did have to produce my id and original credit card though which may be more difficult in your case as they were gifts.

You're all saying the things I did Smile

Ticket? Nope.
But they'll reissue them? Nope.
Replacements at box office? Nope.

It's Bob Dylan. See Tickets.

Yup, my guess would have been Seetickets. They are a nightmare and will always avoid if possible.

Unfortunately they are the only sellers for Glastonbury tickets and every year I've had a nervous wait for the postman the day before praying they'll turn up.

I've never heard of that before and buy a lot of tickets to London venues. They can usually print you a new set if you present the card you paid for the tickets with at the box office. Try calling and speaking to someone else? I find you'll often get a different answer.

TheFlis12345 · 26/04/2017 19:16

Or call the venue directly rather than the ticket agent?

Instasista · 26/04/2017 19:16

This won't be popular as I do understand your need to have them but the tickets are just bits of paper. You're paying for the concert so you can still go and enjoy it, collecting tickets won't be too much hassle I hope

They can be reissued to the box office- what they've told you is untrue. Get back on the phone and complain as high as you can

(I slightly misread your post sorry!)

Yes just searched and if it's the Palladium they can definitely issue new ones at the box office.

It is the palladium. What makes you think they'll reissue TheFlis?

I might try calling them in a bit. DH has phoned See Tickets but we'd not actually called The Palladium.

I don't think the palladium will speak to you about it but it's worth going off on them too. They might put some pressure on See. But honestly replicating tickets to pick up at box office is no big deal it's an everyday occurance. Don't let them tell you otherwise

I know. It's driving me bonkers. Just print another ticket goddamit.

I would call the Palladium direct, I'm sure they will issue them but they made need your credit card there.

See Tickets deals with all Really Useful theatres so it's not like they are a secondary agent for the Palladium.

We've just had our Coldplay tickets for July delivered, via See tickets. I would try the venue direct and explain. We had an issue once with theatre tickets, and just had to take the card we'd booked them on?

Call the Palladium, explain nicely (I know you're probably frustrated at this point but do try) and they may be able to help.

As antifraud measures they seem to send out tickets later and later. Some we've only received 3 or 4 days maximum before a concert - it s too late! They won't always post them without a signature, and if no one is in (easy to happen as you have no idea when they are coming) they get taken to the PO sorting office, and ours often says 48 hours. Well that is very restricted. The number of times Ive been stressed over late to arrive tickets! Drives me mad, and means you can't plan to go to a concert as part of a holiday day or anything.

It is the palladium. What makes you think they'll reissue TheFlis?

It says on their website that they will! I had a similar issue at one of the other theatres owned by the same company (really useful theatres) and they just left is a new set at the box office.

Its not just See who send them out so late either. Had similar with Tcketmaster too.

TM's stance is "If it gets to 3 days before the event and you haven't received your tickets, or you notice that they've gone missing or they're damaged, please contact us as soon as possible." 3 days before you call them?? That is TOO late!
