AIBU?

To think that chocolate tastes different depending on it's shape?

So I think that an Easter egg shaped bit of (e.g cadbury's milk) chocolate tastes different to that same kind of chocolate as a bar.

Yup and frog shaped chocolate is very different too :)

Ha ha! Yes! Also I have gone off cadburys since the bars changed to that bubbly shape - I much prefer the old squares!!!

I thought that easter egg chocolate had more oil in it to make it easier to mold into the the egg shape. It might be why it tastes different.

Completely true. Easter-egg shaped chocolate is far nicer than chunks.

I said this just the other day! Easter eggs taste so much better than a bar of chocolate!

Easter egg chocolate is the best! And galaxy never tasted the same since they changed its shape, it doesn't fit in the top of your mouth any more.

I once had a piece of dairy milk and a piece of galaxy at the same time. I was surprised how different they taste.

Of course you ANBU. It's a true fact universally acknowledged.

Galaxy and Cadbury very very different imo.
And, I love minstrels but wouldn't easily buy a galaxy bar... totally different.
There's a lot of chocolate in our house at the moment, but this evening I definitely wanted egg shaped G&B. Not the lovely bar that it came with...
I think large bars taste better than their smaller versions.

Definitely does. Advent calender cadburys is soo much nicer than normal bars. Easter eggs are usually nicer than the bar/whatever equivalent too

Also, kind of fits here...coke in a glass bottle is absolutely divine whereas I don't think much of coke otherwise. So weird how it tastes so different.

Yep. This is an actual scientific thing. Smile You're not batty.

I much prefer Cadbury in either easter egg form or a Wispa or Flake.

YES! I bought way too many easter eggs the day after easter monday because the £4 ones were now £1 and it tastes so much better. Regular bars with chunks are just too thick to enjoy, but the thinner easter egg shell, just YUM!

thereal ...and then it's quite a leap from Flake to Twirl don't you think?

This is a real thing. Chocolate is a crystal, and there are few types of crystal (polymorphs I think) Changing the shape or melt or tempering will change the flavour. Also, as someone has mentioned, the different fats used will change it too. Testing chocolate would be an amazing job!

Yes a Twirl is different again (and also rather nice). And if I eat Dairy Milk I like to suck the pieces because I think it tastes better that way.

So true. Also malteasers taste better in a box than in a bag.

I'd never thought of that before rainbwgiraffe but I agree with you. ANd there is a bit of cardboard taste on them I think!

Yes! I've also been told by Mr Headache that I'm crackers thinking the shape makes a difference! I love easter egg shell chocolate (cadburys) better than any other.

Off to raid the cupboard for another cut price easter egg bought for this purpose! Grin
