To have two teeth out a week before being a bridesmaid??

I need my front wisdom tooth out and the one in front of that.
They are really painful! Booked in for Monday 3rd, bridesmaid at a wedding on the 9th.
I thought nothing of it but my mum says I'll have a black eye for the wedding and I need to rebook!

What do you think??

I think you might well still have bruising at that point.

Some people are ok others not. I couldn't eat for a week after having mine out and I looked like desperate dan according to my mum! My friend had hers out and was abso fine so there is really no way off telling how you will be.

Don't rebook! Toothache is horrible, get out of pain as soon as you can xx

Getting the problematic teeth out is important. What about talking to your dentist about your concerns?

I don't know if you'll have bruising but whether you should book depends on:

a) whether you can control the pain well with medication and if it is a big deal for you to have it done at a later date (if not, do this)

b) whether you are bothered about having bruising at the wedding, and whether you are bothered if the bride is bothered.

I'm getting married in a few weeks and would never expect a BM to plan medical treatment around it because of her appearance on the day. it is simplest to do it another time but then you'll be in pain for the wedding.

I've just had 2 wisdom teeth out and it's not been good. With the first I got dry socket which is a pain that painkillers don't touch. That's about 5 days. For another 5 days the painkillers work, then it's done. My other extraction did not develop any problems but it took two weeks to heal, where I lived on painkillers. No bruising whatsoever . Make sure you look after your clot and follow all instructions! Sorry to be the voice of doom!

I think you should reschedule, the bride thought enough of you to ask you to be a special part of her day, but if you still think your appointment is important then......... arnica, arnica, arnica.

I've had all my wisdoms out (separately) and never had a black eye with any of them. The swelling was worse before the removal and afterwards it went back down within a day or so. And there was some pain afterwards but it was sweet relief compared to the pain of an impacted tooth.

Any swelling will be just in front of your ear. Could you wear your hair down or with strategically-placed tendrils to cover that part of your jaw if necessary?

Also, just beg for an appointment this week.

You might well have no black eye - I didn't - but a very very sore mouth and be miserable.

I wouldn't if you can move it I would

I'll rebook! The pain is intermittent anyway. Thanks

I would re book!!

Another vote for re book, I had 2 out and it was a full 2 weeks before the pain stopped!

I think I got away lightly. I had 2 impacted wisdom teeth removed and I was back to normal within 2 days with hardly any swelling.

Arnica - tablets and cream really helps prevent bruising and swelling

Aren't wisdom teeth the rearmost teeth ?What do you mean by 'front'?

I had 2 top removed and then 2 bottom removed 10 days later. 1 was horrible - they needed a self tapping screw to pull one out. The other 3 were a tug and 'clunk' as they popped them down in the kidney dish beside me.

I lived in fear of dry-socket but really within 48 hours, my mouth was back to normal.

YMMV and you may well be better postponing it. I had no idea that you could get shiners from it.

Really?? I had 3 wisdom teeth out and 4 teeth out for braces, never had bruising for any of them??
It hurt the next day and about 3 days later it was absolutely fine. I don't smoke and I just drank soup through a straw. Took pain killers the day I had them out.

Then again my friends think I'm crazy as I will happily have a filling with no numbing injection as I love the dentist and have a pretty high pain threshold. (Fell off a galloping horse onto concrete, got up and ran after the horse hahaha)

I had all four of mine out at once, no bruising (but I don't tend to bruise anyway) and was right after about four days, although wouldnt have been chowing down on steak at that point.

Sorry mars I meant top back wisdom tooth and one in front of it.

Have they come through? Mine were impacted and I had them out under GA. I had stitches, couldn't eat properly for about a week, and a David Coulthard jaw. If they've come through and we're talking removal by the dentist it might well be different.

I never understand this attitude. If the bride thinks that much of you she'd be mortified if you're in pain just because of her wedding! If I was the bride I'd want you to be comfortable and pain free.

Surely your health and well-being comes before what you look like in a dress for someone else's day. Hmm

Have them out.

When I had all 4 out together as a teenager I looked like a gerbil for over a week. My jaw locked for several days and my face was so swollen I couldn't put my lips round a glass properly as it was so tightly pulled. Awful times.

Ah
It's still up to you. If you'l be in pain on the wedding day hen have them pulled now. If you aren't in pain now and can wait then you should.

I had all four out under GA and I looked like I'd been beaten up. I felt terrible too. The recovery was worse than that from giving birth.

I realise you're only having two out but I think rebooking is still the right thing to do!
