Almost got suckered in till I realised they were offering deals which couldn't possibly be true and the only contact given was an email. Have reported to trading standards and just wanted to warn others really

Not enough info really, to be able to say whether YABU or not.

What makes your think they can't possibly be true?

'Businesses' like these are sprouting up all over the places at the moment. If you're ever unsure, make sure you check to see if the retailer is a registered business.

By law, they should include their registered business number on their site, usually on the terms and conditions page. You can then run this through the companies house website here: beta.companieshouse.gov.uk/

You can try searching by name too but that's a lot harder as they can use different trading names.

Anyway, I can't even find this website's registered business number, so defo one to avoid!

Looks very dodgy.

No address, no phone number, broken English in the info, they accept bank transfer and Western Union, no info about Distance Selling laws.

Wouldn't touch it with yours.

Sonders - sole traders aren't legally required to register with Companies House.

I'm a small business sole trader and am required to provide the following info on my website in order for my payment processing partners to accept my customers' payments:-

Full name of proprietor, full address of registered business, contact information including email and telephone.

Oh dear, it doesn't look promising does it. There are no contact details except for an email address on the website at all. Not even a phone number Hmm. A lot of The wording of the website is American.

They actually claim to have stock too. HmmHmm

The website was recently registered to a HollyBergman from Conwy but that's fairly meaningless.

I'd stick to John Lewis personally

(registered business as per HMRC, not companies House)

Good point User, I assumed a company like this would be limited (if legit) because of the amount of stock involved, and supposedly high turnover.

Smart looking site but live and learn this just because something looks good does not mean it is.Only shop at verified places you know people have bought from like ebay or amazon or mothercare or precious little one

if you almost got caught by that you need to learn fast theres far more complex scams out there. The amount of times i have received realistic fake emails from paypal i have lost count or ones from so called hmrc or the bank

i suggest you do research on common scams to make your self more aware

Indeed... But sole traders can also be dropshippers and not handle any stock themselves... I think it looks exceedingly fishy and would escalate it with the webhost.

I think (please correct me) that sites ending .me are usually Wordpress type blogs. Nothing wrong with that for a blog - but I would be wary of a company using this type of domain name.

Absolutely a scam site. I am in the trade and this site has been flagged up, all the manufacturers contacted have confirmed that they do not supply them and have never heard of them.

Pushchairs.me.uk

At least this thread might come up if anyone searches for the site. Hopefully most people know not to trust any old site with their money.

Just a quick scan of the website brings up lots of conflicting information. I wouldn't touch it with a bargepole!

I might have been taken in by this site tbh. They take credit card payments and look like they have invested in a decent website.

The english is appalling and any website that takes western union and bank transfer should ring loud alarm bells for people.

They haven't invested in anything. It's clearly a template website from a cheap domain (its a .me.uk, not co.uk). The FAQ section is in very poor english, there are no addresses or phone numbers, no registration or company information. The terminology is american even though its supposedly a UK site. They take credit cards but not through any recognisable secure system, and huge flag, they take Western Union but not Paypal!

And the prices are far too cheap to be real in the first place.

seafoodeatit · 31/01/2017 12:12

Afresh the faq and shipping are identical word for word.
