AIBU?

Who is being U? DM and me or DF? (lighthearted - kinda)

This year DM thought she wanted a small christmas tree so DF and DM trotted off to ASDA to buy a 3ft tree, returned with a pre-lit, flocked christmas tree, which on the box looks a lovely size etc. Opened the box to put up the tree tonight (have been very busy so tree is only going up now, I know it's very late on in December) and it is TINY! Almost comical in fact! DM has now decided that she was in fact wrong and wants the big 6ft tree down from the loft. DF is refusing to take the big tree down and is insisting we have the tiny comical tree. He also won't let me go up to the loft to get the big tree. Cue DM sulking in the corner and DF stomping about muttering under his breath about christmas trees and such. Who is being unreasonable?

(I have suggested that they just pop the tiny tree back in its box and return it but DF has lost the receipt for it and is all in all being a complete grinch!) Xmas Envy

It is the same height as our dining table and I haven't stopped giggling at it since I took it out of the box.

I think it's cute. Stick it on a table then it can be seen it will get lost on the floor

Aww, it's so cute! We had a similar sized one in our old house, we didn't have anywhere to put a 'full sized' tree. So instead we had a small one standing on a side table. Would that be an option?

Prop it up on something? A small table/wrapped up box? It is a little sad looking Grin

You're all being unreasonable. You and Dm for getting an obviously tiny tree Grin which it stated size on box, and your Df for not letting dm put up the 6 footer. It's Christmas! Df doesn't need to do anything as you've offered to get it. Put the sapling in another room haha

Neither me nor DM knew how small 3ft was, we are a bit clueless with the sizes of things... Blush I would also like to add that I've never been in support of a smaller tree, I feel it's too small for the living room.
We have given in to DF's stompiness and are just making do with the small tree until he goes offshore and it's on a small storage box covered with a blanket, and now I must admit it looks quite sweet. The only upside to the smaller tree is NO TINSEL! stuff of the devil tinsel is Xmas Envy

Oh dear, it is tiny! Cute but tiny Grin

Do you have room to put it somewhere if you get the 6ft one down from the loft? If so then get the 6ft one when your DF is away but keep this one too.

Yeah pipsqueak unfortunately DF is away over christmas and new year this year, in his entire offshore career he has only ever been home for christmas twice and once was because he was very ill, but no little ones in the house so we just do a mini christmas before he goes. I was going to take the big tree down after he goes but the tiny tree is growing on me and DM, so it will maybe just stay up. Feeling properly festive now Xmas Grin

Buster I am glad it's cheered you up! toothache is awful!
PNGirl it's fine, me and DM think it is hilarious!
Think we'll probably just keep the small one up, he goes away on the 23rd so it doesn't seem worth taking the big tree out, it's quite charming now that it has been decorated so not so comical, it just looked so sad when we took it out of the box Grin
