AIBU?

AIBU to be so disappointed in this purchase?!

I know this is a first world problem, but I'm so upset over this.

I've been extremely strapped for money recently, and in general I'm not a big spender.

But I decided to treat myself to something nice after a particularly rough week. (Work, bf everything was rubbish)

I bought a lipstick which in my opinion is expensive (£25) - I'd been eyeing this for weeks!!

It turns out that the lipstick is horrible.

It actually dries my lips out and doesn't stay for longer than 5 mins. It's practically the worst lipstick I've ever used.

I did go back in store to complain about this but they refused to help me Sad

I know a lot people will think I'm making a mountain out of a molehill, but money is tight for me and I'd treated myself to something nice after a very long time.

I'm soooo disappointed that the brand won't take any responsibility for the horrible product they've churned out.

Anyway, rant over.

Clearly a first world problem, but I hate wasting money

What brand is it? In my experience the big brands i.e. Lancôme will return if you aren't happy and at least let you exchange.

YANBU to be disappointed, I'd be gutted in your shoes.

I brought a dior gloss and lipstick once, the lippy was crap and the gloss felt plasticky and tasted horrible. I stick to NYX these days!

You could sell it on eBay? Obv as it's been used once it's not going to go for full price but you might get something back?

Sounds like Mac to me. I had to put Vaseline on my lips all day before I used my Ruby Woo or it would just flake off.

I second that Dior is crap

YANBU. I'm pretty sure you're allowed a refund, its not fit for purpose.

They are usually pretty good about refunds shortly after the purchase. YANBU!

What brand is it?

It's Bobbi Brown Sad

I LOVE Bobbi's products in general, practically my entire makeup bag is her stuff.

So I never expected not to like this lipstick.

The store manager wasn't very nice at all- she actually swiped my lipstick on her hand (unhygienic, it's not a tester), and then said sorry there's nothing wrong with it.

They said the only thing they might be able to do is replace the lipstick with a new one, but honestly, if one is bad, they will all be!!

I said I didn't even want my money back, if happily exchange it for something I would actually use. But they refused

I would tweet them and complain.

I agree - try social media!

Write to the company - they should send you a voucher at least. I did this with Vichy and they sent me a cheque.

Nicketynac · 16/11/2016 22:06

I would email company and complain about the product and the service. Did you buy it in a department store? If so, complain to them too.
If no decent response then Twitter, FB etc until someone offers a solution.

You should have got a new one then you could have sold it on eBay!

I actually had a massive issue with Bobbi brown b b cream when it came out first, it didn't last at all, melted off my face in moments and dried my skin out.
SA advised me to return it to their parent company in the U.K. (I can't remember who maybe Lancôme ?) with a letter saying I had a skin reaction to it. I did. Forgot about it until a few months later I received a refund and letter from them.
Maybe if you Google Bobbi brown head office and actually write to them with copies of your proof of purchase (I can't remember if I returned the actual item to them I think I might have )

Try complaining another way, by email perhaps? For £25 you should get a luscious and luxurious feeling lipstick.

Message them on Facebook and Twitter, you'll soon get a refund especially if you complain about the woman in the store.

I don't have an eBay account etc. I've never used it before- plus I've heard that they take 25% off the price as commission?

Anyway, I will definitely call/email customer services.

I've had a worst luck with products and customer service recently.

A bag I'd bought last Christmas (but only just started using) literally snapped at the string. After barely a month of use!!!

And the store staff refused to help.

The customer service team said they'd refund me if I cut up the existing bag into pieces and sent them a picture Hmm

I bought some Bobbi brown eye shadows once which were rubbish with zero pigment. It was also a massive treat for me and I was gutted. I complained in store and got no help but the manager did give me the number for their central customer service (which I'm sure you could google). I explained what had happened and the girl on the phone gave me a full refund as I said they weren't fit for purpose and I felt I'd been missold. Give it a try! Tweeting might get the same response but try ringing the store and asking for their main customer complaints/service number.

Try complaining on Twitter/Facebook. They will probably offer you a refund.
I complained to Rimmel about their in shower self tanning lotion on fb, within 24 hours I was offered any two products from their range instead of refund.
If your lipstick is a big name one, they might either refund or send you voucher.

Yes for £25 I was expecting an amazing lipstick!

This one is horrible.

I'll definitely try calling and emailing first- and tweeting as well

If you buy from a BB counter in John Lewis they're normally much better at exchanging or refunding. I've had foundation changed before after the colour matched me incorrectly.
