AIBU?

Help! Birthday present for nephew who is going to be 11 - I think.

Hope I am NBU posting here - didn't know where else to put it. Hardly ever see him since they live abroad, but will be seeing the family next week, arriving just before his b-day. Any ideas of what is popular for boys that age? I don't have a clue. He probably has most stuff anyway, so I need inspiration. Would be v grateful for any ideas - I only have tomorrow and Sunday to shop. Can't be anything very expensive or bulky, since I will be going on Eurostar with minimal baggage.
Many thanks, anybody who can suggest.

Lego bionicles figures (especially the Star Wars ones) are very cool. Light, small, portable and not too expensive. My ds's both love them.

Maybe text his parents to see what he likes?

You think that they are going o be 11- so they could be 10 ?or 12 ? or ?

Cash works. Just do cash. Large amounts. £50 if in Uk. 50 euro if in EU

plus a crap apology for not knowing how old they are Smile

11 year olds do not like bionicles if they are lego fans

£10 is plenty. He'll be delighted with that

£10 from an aunt/uncle who doesn't know how old they are? Implies lots of catching up. £10 is the level for a classmate at a party- not a close relation who is there on the day.

Lego yes- but bionics are more age 7- not 11 (or older as Op is unsure). My 11 year old nephew does 14 or 16 plus technical lego- would not be impressed with bionics

Yes agreed Lego can be a bit tricky...gets more personal as they get older - if you go for it - aim much older than they are! So 14+

My 11 yo cousin got a couple of young adult books and a GAME voucher for his last birthday. The voucher wouldn't work but maybe Amazon?

Honestly, go with money. Not all 11 year old like Lego. I know some that would be very disappointed with it! Or an Amazon voucher of course!

My 10 year old would smile sweetly say thank you and give Bionicals to his 5 year old brother. Minecraft or Marvel tshirts would go down well, vouchers or cold hard cash would be adored.

My 11 year old cousin is also another big Lego fan. That or anything to do with Minecraft - last Xmas I got him Minecraft themed Lego, that went down well Smile

I have an 11 year old and a niece same age
.Three older nephews/nieces and they all wanted cash from that age. Can't go wrong as they then get to choose exactly what they want.

Cash is good too admittedly. My DS used the cash he got for his 11th b'day to buy Lego amongst other things Grin
