AIBU?

to think that Mumsnetters should be able to hide a thread on the basis of the thread title only ...

... and not have to click on it and open it first?

Sometimes I do cynically wonder if the site has been designed with number of clicks given a huge priority over ease of use/navigation by MN members.

I can - I use the desktop site via safari, and it's one of the options in 'customise'

You can on the phone app.

YANBU. What's with the one word thread titles too, is it a quiz, is there a word limit?

Report
Sparklingbrook · 20/03/2016 16:34

I am on the laptop on Chrome.

The option is customise is "Put "hide" link on Active Conversations? (hide selected threads from Talk), show thread options on mobile"

If you change that to 'yes' you get a button to the right of the thread title in Active which is one click to hide that thread.

Ah, it's in Customise now is it? And where has that button disappeared to?

Mess with stuff in Customise at your peril.

How would you do it on a laptop on Chrome?

Report

Actually I think I may be talking about another issue. Not knowing what the thread's about til you open it. ie thread titles being rubbish.

Is that not what you are getting at bibbity?

Grin Actually, I agree with your Sparkling! I wish people would make their thread titles clear so that people could have an idea about whether or not they want to read further.

But, no, I'm talking about scrolling down a list of thread titles (such as you would if you use Active Conversations) and being able to hide the ones that don't interest you without having to open them first.

I see what you mean. All thread titles should have that little dustbin icon next to them like on emails so you can just go down and bin them off.

I think a certain footballer is being sentenced this week and it would be v handy. And when the Royals do anything.

Yes, I used to have 1,000 posts on a page in MN Classic and that is the thing I miss most!

You can't "swop back" sic to MN Classic. That is so obvious even I might have thought of it by myself.

So, a word of caution: if you like MN Classic, do not re-register (as thousands of us had not choice but to after JeffreyGate)
