AIBU?

To think this pizza shop has been a bastard

I made an order on just eat. I i receive a phone call saying the special offer i clicked on was 'wednesday special' and its thursday.
Genuine mistake. I looked at the special offers, not the title. I also expect that everything on the menu is available to purchase as it is.
I ask what to do and they tell me to cancel it and re order it - i hoped they would have suggested i make up the cost with cash in hand.
So now i have cancelled, and paid an extra £4 since the offer cannot be used. If it was just me id of said stuff it, but the kids were/are really looking forward to the treat!

Aibu to think offers for specific days should only be accessible on that specific day?

I presume (no expert!) it'd be more difficult to write the code for the site to show offers only available on a specific day. Surprised they didn't let you make up the difference in cash though.

It's probably Just Eat's fault rather than the restaurant.

I think you're making a mountain out of a molehill. You read it wrong; they're within their rights to only allow offers on certain days. It's £4 ffs.

£4 is a lot when its already over £18 to begin with. Remember, that money has already been taken out of my account from the first order. So thats £18 and then £22 for tea tonight

You can buy flour, tomatoes and mozzarella for about 10 pizzas for less than £6 - buying pizza is a complete rip off to start with.

It is. Just thought a nice treat to have before watching fireworks.
Wish i never bothered.
I know i will get that money back, but i dont know how long they take to refund or anything

For the sake of £4, you are being ridiculous.

It was your mistake.

We get leaflets with loads of offers, it would be daft to demand Friday's offer on a Thursday. They were being pretty decent to phone you.

It was your mistake. You didn't read it probably.

Laughable that you have decided it is their fault.

"I obviously dont mind paying the extra"

Well that certainly isn't how your OP reads. You asked "Aibu to think offers for specific days should only be accessible on that specific day?"

Just Eat is terrible for this. Ignore posts about how many pizzas you could have made for the same money, they are totally missing the point.

It's Just Eat's fault. Nothing to do with the pizza shop. I'd say it's pretty bad customer service but these shops have such automated tills and procedures it's really hard to do anything out of the ordinary and when they do they would probably have had to pay the £4 difference themselves.

Offers should only be available on the days they are valid, it's easily done.

Has it changed? When I've ordered, you have to wait for the takeaway to accept your order before its confirmed so they shouldn't have accepted it.

I have paid out £18 for nothing tonight with no clue as to when that money will return to me.

The £4 is not an issue, hence in my original post i say i hoped they would say i could pay the extra on the door. Its not £4 extra. It is £22 extra at this moment in time!

i agree it was a fault with justeat website and they should have taken the money at the door no big deal. what is a big deal is having hungry kids waiting for 40 mins or more to only be told sorry there was an error.

yes pizza can be made but its nice to eat out a takeaway or go to a restaurant sometimes as a treat, well for me it is i slave away in the kitchen everyday nice to get a bloody break.

justeat sometimes take orders for restaurants that are closed that day too lol, then you have to chase up the refund. Not the restaurants fault take it up with just eat see what they say.

No they accepted it and then called me to tell me to cancel. So if people would like to get all technical, they also should not have made the mistake of not reading correctly and charging a customer for food they knowingly cant deliver.

So annoying. I really can't stand just eat, think they're useless.

Should go to hungry house. They do codes (Twitter page). Discount for first order. Several places are signed up to a buy x orders get one half price..

Thank you for all of your opinions.
Yep, the fault at this moment in times lies with just eat. The fault before that was with the shop for accepting the order to begin with. The fault to begin with was mine for not reading correctly.
I do believe if offers are so difficult to put on and take off just eat - then maybe offers for specific days should be left to leaflets only.

I had an order canceled via just eat but they still took the money then it was 5-7working days for a refund which is bloody stupid. Fast enough to take your money. Although I can't complain too much as the second time it happened the take away still delivered my order and didn't charge me as their end it said paid. Hmm

A mistake was made - partly by you & partly by Just Eat. There has been an easy solution, everyone has their food & you are only £4 worse off. I'm not sure there's a need to blame anyone TBH.

Things just happen sometimes. In our house this wouldn't even register on the radar of annoyance.
