I am so secure in my state of non unreasonsonbleness I don't even feel the need to justify myself with my harrowing epic tail of woe, with myself as the put upon hero at the mercy of a bunch of money grabbing, service witholding, unresponsive cunt monkeys.

BT . BUNCH. OF. FUDGECOCKERS.

I completely agree. The day my contract expired, was the day I cried tears of joy and relief Grin

My sympathy to you - but Fudgecockers is a new one to me & am grateful to have learnt that epithet!

My options of service provider for Internet and phone line where I now live are

BT

Or BT

Or BT

They have complete monopoly over where I live. I binned them years ago as they devoted considerable man hours into extorting lots of money from me, not providing a service and then investing considerable man hour into telling me why this was cool and groovy.

Now the only way they can get customers is to hold entire lines to ransom, and still fuck up hugely. Require me getting the might of OPenreach to prove they were fibbing.

On top of that, they won't send me the Sainsburys voucher they promised.

Gits
Asshats

I hate them, hate them. But it's them or fucking homing pigeons.

I thought they were ok....until my internet (that we rely on for all TV watching, supermarket shopping and also professional purposes) was down for ages due to an error by their engineer... So yanbu

I am sat with my husband next to me and he is currently mid-rant about BT. In his case it has something to do with the difficulties of unsubscribing from BT sport as he has no wish to pay for it.

He feels your pain.

Sadly the other broadband providers we have tried were worse.

Last two days, hundreds, probably thousands of us have been affected by a BT infrastructure fault. At first they denied there was a problem. Then they said some people had a problem and they were investigating. Then they posted a note about it to service status on bt.com. Then they removed the status update about an hour later - so they are mentioning to people who tweet, but not if you have a problem and check system status. They treat customers with contempt.

We had a whole week without broadband recently. Openreach/BT were useless. They repeatedly told us it was a problem at the exchange and we didn't need an engineer. We did. A stiff letter has been dispatched. Angry

I wouldn't go back to BT if you paid me. When my Pils line went down they told us there were roadworks on their road, or on the main road, or on the next road and then there were in fact no roadworks and they were waiting for traffic lights. There weren't any roadworks for miles. They told us there was an engineer at the house when there wasn't. They told us there was an engineer at the box outside the house. Pils live in the middle of nowhere and there isn't a box for about two miles. Every day we phoned only to be promised that it would be fixed within 24 hours. This went on for about eight weeks until our local MP intervened and miraculously the line was restored. Every time we spoke to someone we reiterated that DMil had terminal cancer and had to be in constant communication with nurses and doctors and it made no difference. They are utter fucking bastards and deserve to go out of business.

I like that they have communication in their name. The one thing they fail utterly at in all capacities is the one thing they are meant to do.

They must treat their staff like shit too Sad as they all sound bitter, fed up and totally indifferent.

They deserve to go out of business but won't as they steal and coerce it.

BT are just as unreasonable when dealing with businesses. If OpenReach was sold off and the rest put under severe controls, Gideon and David Cameron could win a lot of friends.

On my fridge their number is under Bastard Twats. (I use my fridge as a whiteboard)

The worst insult I can give another company with poor customer service is "Do you know you're almost as bad as BT?" They always sound shocked when I say that GrinGrin

Getthewonderwebout · 29/07/2015 20:17

They're arses, to put it mildly.

Since changing to EE, calm has been restored here. We get charged the correct amount. We get good service. Our broadband ALWAYS works. As does our phone line. And it's all good value. Imagine that!!

The best ways to deal with these companies, if hopefully you have an alternative, is to vote with your feet.

Companies with a monopoly are complacent arseholes and they need a bloody good rattling.

Depending on your exchange, moving to another provider won't necessarily get you off of BT equipment. I asked Virgin about this, as I fully intended to jump ship while being endlessly messed about. At least they were honest enough to tell me that changing to them would not fix the problem I had. In some exchanges other providers have their own stuff.
