To leave washing out in the rain....

DH put the washing out to dry. Now it's rained, so it's wet again.its going to belt it down all day. Should I bring it back inside before it gets more wet or do I accept it's as wet as it can be and leave it out?

Also, does it need rewashing now it's been rained on? Thoughts please!

Definitely needs rewashing, it won't smell fresh! I'd bring it back in now.

It doesn't need rewashing.
I'd get it in unless you think it's just going to be a shower. if it is sodden give it a spin in the washing machine, but it doesn't need to be washed again.

It's a natural rinse! Just leave it til it dries again :)

I would put in on the rinse & spin cycle, so not a full wash but clean water rinse. But then I live in a big polluted city and have seen the state of my car when it rains!

If it's going to rain all day why would you leave it out? Confused when would you bring it in? If it's not been raining long then it won't need washed again.

If it's just a short shower though, I'd leave it out.

Ah see this is the problem, DH leaves it out overnight (which I'm against but that's another question) so he'd happily leave it out indefinitely until the sun comes out!

I was initially 'huh?' when people say it needs washed again.

But I live in a very rural area. Our rain is clean.

I'd bring it in, chances are it isn't as wet yet as it is straight out of the washing machine, depending on how long it has been out.

I live in Scotland so "indefinitely until the sun comes out" could be in a fortnight Grin

I leave my washing out for up to 3 days or until it's dried.

London; stinky rain and black snot, I would rewash.

Somewhere cleanish; leave it out.

Cornwall here - washing went out yesterday, forgot to bring it in. It's been rained on all day but tomorrow is forecast to be sunny so I'm leaving the washing where it is Blush

I would rewash, it would smell funny.

I bring it in and rewash.... I hate my washing being rained on! When I see how dirty it makes my windows, I need to freshen it up. And I never leave washing out overnight and definitely not for several days to get wet/dry/wet/dry again.

I'm in the country and have just hung mine out in the beginnings of a light shower. It'll dry eventually and at least now it's not cluttering the place up!

I've no problem leaving it out all night either. The darkness doesn't leave stains.

I'd bring it in and give it a rinse

I'm not going out there to bring mine in. As far as I am concerned it s out for the duration. If that is until Sunday, so be it!

And I won't be rewashing it, either!

doesn't need rewashing except if you are in a big dirty city, and we don't have any that dirty in the UK.

bring it in though as with a day of rain it will get musty as it won't dry for a while.

don't put it on the radiators to stop your house getting musty.

I'd have to rewash, it just looks grubby when it's getting rained on.

Believe me special You don't need to be in a big dirty city, just a small village on the outskirts of a steeltown. I very rarely hang washing out at all Sad
